Do you know of any apps that allow SRT streaming and offer multicam capabilities like the Mevo Multicam app? The idea is to have multiple phones use their cameras via NDI through a wifi hotspot link back to one app outputting the stream. This would cut on data usage to stream out one video as opposed to streaming back multiple video streams to relay through OBS.
That'd be awesome but none of the apps I've seen so far support SRT. I suppose, for now, you could broadcast an RTMP stream via an RTMP relay/endpoint to your self-hosted OBS & NOALBS for disconnect protection but then you're still missing out on the benefits of SRT. Maybe one day.
Thanks for the instructions. Just one question if you don't mind. I got the phone to connect to OBS but it seems like I have to start the stream directly from the desktop? Is there any way to start the stream from Irl Pro + Bellabox Cloud
You're welcome, and sure. You can start the stream using NOALBS and a chat command like in these two newer videos... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vx-xdIE5c5I.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JChh-3ihwdY.html If you've only got your streaming phone you can swipe out of the app (IRL Pro will continue broadcasting to OBS at home) and type the command in your chatroom on Twitch. It's a lot easier to use two phones though.
Would this method work to cast from one iPhone (playing Pokemon GO) to Moblin on my other phone without needing an additional relay? I'm trying to avoid having to send to belabox cloud, then back down to my other phone, then back up via Belabox cloud to my PC
It'd be easier to send the gameplay as an RTMP signal from one Moblin phone to another Moblin phone but it's kinda wasted because you can't, at least the last time I checked, embed scenes within scenes (gameplay and camera). Port forwarding is the cheapest option because you can send two Moblin SRT broadcasts back to your computer at home, but that depends if your home internet setup can do port forwarding.
@@cliffcreates the new Moblin beta allows PiP via “video widgets” (which is a bit buggy rn but COULD be good in the next couple months). It can use RTMP in (I’ve used my DJI as a source layered over the inbuilt camera) so I figure this phone -> phone method might be possible, just figuring out the logistics
Is there a way to use NOALBS to trigger starting a stream and changing scenes for more than just Twitch and Kick? I'm trying to figure out how to start and control a stream from my android phone remotely as a multistream. i can do everything fine with twitch but youtube isn't playing nice. i can only start the streams together if i use PRISM Live, but I can't switch scenes and don't have disconnect protection with BELABOX with that. I'd like to be able to control the scenes on my OBS for BOTH Twitch and RU-vid from my phone. I've been trying to make it work for a week to no luck. :(
You can stream to three platforms using Restream and Aitum Vertical Also, I've got a feeling you've been watching my videos out of order, and it'd make A LOT more sense if you started from the beginning. Try the Belabox playlist below... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XTxdp7w8tZ4.html&pp=gAQBiAQB
Can you input BOTH twitch and youtube usernames into NOALBS so it multistreams to both when you go live from IRL Pro? I'm struggling trying to find a way to multistream to youtube and twitch from my phone. I have belabox, so the disconnect protection isn't an issue.
NOALBS handles disconnect protection between your phone and OBS using your Twitch info. If you want to multi-stream to Twitch and RU-vid, you do that in OBS using a service like Restream.io, a plugin like Aitum, etc Basically, you take advantage of the apps and services that use Twitch so you can include RU-vid into your streams. This is how I'm currently able to multi-stream to Twitch and RU-vid.
@cliffcreates i guess I gotta go with restream free version since aitum isn't working automatically from my phone. I hope the watermark isn't too distracting
@@RhymeMastaMasse I think you should watch or rewatch the video below because it explains what your phone is doing versus your computer at home... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XTxdp7w8tZ4.html Phone -> Home PC -> Restream Also, from what I've seen Restream only adds a watermark if you stream using Studio (their online software) and puts a link in your description if you use OBS which is fine by me
Can you make a video explaining how you set up the blur and mute for the privacy scene? i've tried to download multiple plugins, but they only work for my main desktop instance of obs and won't work for the portable instance you said i should make to keep IRL streaming separate.
I cover how to do scene specific functions (mute, blur, etc) in a later video of this series using Streamer.bot If you're having issues with the portable instance, you could try creating a duplicate scene collection in your main obs with the IRL additions. The main reason I keep it separate is for demonstration purposes and because I've tested what you see in the videos extensively. Once you veer off in another direction, which is cool and inevitable, I can only help so much. Anyway, give that a go and remember to make a duplicate scene collection first :)
How can i stream with gopro? Im losing the connection of the gopro when i go away from the wi-fi (phone wi-fi is not working on the gopro, there must be modem) and i can't carry modem on the bike xD so i need ur help boss ty..
I've never owned a GoPro so I can only guess how I'd make it work which is to send the GoPro video as a RTMP signal out of the GoPro app to an IRL streaming app like Moblin with the phone attached very, very securely to the handlebar of the bike. From there the stream from Moblin could go to the streaming computer at home with a way to handle mobile signal disconnects like in the videos on my channel. Hope that helps :)
Thanks so much! But I was running into a wall until it only worked when I took out the timeout=2000000 from the end of the OBS link I copied from BELABOX's website.
OK, so update: When I went into OBS Tools > Websocket Server Settings > and checked "Enable Websocket Server" now the stream doesn't work. Do I need to add back in the timeout=2000000 into the OBS/IRL Pro sources?
OK, UPDATE, update: I added back in the timeout=2000000 in OBS "SOURCE - Cam 1" properties, and now it works again with websocket enabled. You should pin a comment regarding this issue maybe so others don't get stuck. I only found out about the timeout=2000000 issue because another user posted it in the local SRT connection tutorial. Thanks!
I downloaded the .zip file of OBS since I already had OBS installed and followed ALL of your steps to a T, but when I opened the shortcut to OBS in the IRL LIVE folder, it opened up with my existing scenes and settings. Isn't the point to create a seperate instance of OBS that isn't connected to your main "home streaming" OBS instance? I'm confused here. Or did I not have to download a second instance of OBS to begin with? I'm pretty lost at this point what the point of downloading a program I already have again is, if it just automatically opens OBS the same as before... Am I missing something?
@cliffcreates I did, but you said inside the OBS Studio folder, "create a new text document and name it portable_mode.txt done." I did that, but you didn't say what to put in the text document...
@cliffcreates I looked up from google "how to portable mode obs" and I found a video explaining that nothing has to be in the file, also I figured out the problem. I put ".txt" as part of the filename, instead of naming it "portable_mode" and not adding the .txt. That worked for me. I didn't know such a TINY detail could make such a difference. I also never knew that just the name of a file could alter how programs ran before!
@@EdVenturesVlog cool, that's correct. you don't put anything in the text file. just the having the file with that name informs OBS that this is a portable version of OBS
@@EdVenturesVlog Interesting, it works for me with ".txt" in the filename, but I'm glad to hear it's working for you now with the extra step. Thanks for the info
i notice this requires a new scene collection called 'loopy srt monitor' and then the scenes that you associate within the code to work with the disconnect protection. but i am confused. what if i already have a complex set of scenes in a collection? how do i then work with this code? i cannot just start from scratch in this new scene collection called 'loopy srt monitor' that would take over a week. thanks for your input. all i was looking for, was a playlist for when my livestream should happen to go offline, not to start from scratch hopefully, i thought it might be copying a scene and working some code.
hey cliff, how can i mirror an iphone screen to OBS while IRL? basically trying to mirror the chat phone screen for text/phone call/chat phone content. thank you for your help
also is there some way to explain this more independently without relying on these services to complete the process of mirroring an iphone screen to obs
@@bellyoftheworld it depends on your home connection and if you can do port forwarding. If yes, then you can use Moblin which I only just tested and got it to work during yesterday’s live stream
Great video. It covers just what I needed! Bonding on the cheap! I did some tests today with IRL PRO and Belobox SRTLA. Seems to be working nicely. UI actually shows what it sends and where. Now the UI for bonding settings is quite confusing, but I understood it eventually. Thanks again for your hard work doing the research and putting the video together for us!
If youre irl streaming, wouldn't you just need the remote connection? Why add the local if you're not gonna be streaming from home anyway? That way you don't have to switch, right?
In terms of learning and how I structured the video series, the local setup is easier and quicker to get working and help understand the differences between them like why a remote connection won't work at home if your phone's wifi is on. Also, local doesn't use mobile data and depending on your mobile plan you might want to use the local one to test any changes to your set up before heading out to IRL live-stream. Hope that makes sense. Great question and thanks :)
Hey Cliff. About Dji Mic 2 noise when connected w/o receiver. I have it too. I looked into it. Looks like officially they support only some phones. They have a compatibility list on their website in the downloads section. The theory is that if the phone is not on the compatibility list if will have that lower quality with weird noise.
@@DimaDesu ahhh now that makes sense why it has and hasn’t worked. Must’ve been when I connected it to my iPhone 11 which is a supported device. The S20 is the newest Samsung it currently supports and I’m sure they’ll add the S23 at some point. Thanks
@cliffcreates Loving your videos! Thanks for all your hard work putting them together. I've build a nice streaming setup based on information from your videos. I am considering getting RTMP server from these guys too. This can allow doing many different things including screen sharing as you've shown here. Really cool. Cheers!
Holy shit there's been so many updates to IRL streaming. Time to ditch the belabox. I have to catch up on all your videos. Although I like the Sony action cam alot. The reduced amount of gear to drag around is too tempting
Indeed, the Sony 3000/300 are fantastic for IRL but even thinking about all that gear kinda kills it for me. But then an IRL backpack still shines when it comes to bonding more than 3 connections, for super long live-streams and a few other reasons. Interesting times we're in. Thanks :)
@@BigBry4n oh yes, I saw your message and I think my response was that all the gear and settings I’m using is in the description of my live stream but if you mean Belabox Cloud or Port Forwarding I’m currently using Port Forwarding
5:37min Mark... How did you add PIP? Can you recommend a streaming app that allows picture in picture? I think IRL Pro is working on this but cant find any apps with this feature. Would be great to use both outside and selfie cameras when doing IRL. Thanks from Tokyo!
In that video I did PIP with two phones and merged them in OBS like in this video... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nXeiGB6lOJY.html The only IRL app that I know of that can do PIP natively is Larix Broadcaster which is freemium (time limit, watermark, etc) so if you don't mind upgrading to the monthly subscription, it's a good app. Thanks :)
Streamer Bot doesn't have Kick support at the moment but what I'd do is use it to control OBS (what your viewers on Kick see) while OBS is streaming to Kick. I do this while Multi-streaming to Kick & Twitch. Keep in mind you'll need to run the commands through Twitch chat using an app like IRL Link. So yeah, it can work.
Sir I figured out that I can transfer the media when both devices connected to same wifi but when I turn on mobile data on my phone I get a message that says "Can't connect to server" pls help how can I stream Irl without leaving the house
Congrats on setting it up while on your home wifi or local network. Oh wait, so you want to use your phone as a webcam at home with both the wifi and mobile data on? Droid Cam or vdo.ninja might be better options for you. Hope that helps :)
@@cliffcreates Do you mine doing one I would love that threw srt. I'm more of a visual person. I'm sure other people would love that too. Also keep up the great vids.
I commented on the previous video about the Authentication Failure and solved it by removing the Timeout, however now that I'm setting up the Remote connection, the passphrase once again doesn't work. I can connect without a passphrase with the remote connection, but I feel like that is a security risk of some sort. Do you recommend running without a passphrase or is there something else to try? I can connect to the local when I'm on wifi with a passphrase, but disconnecting from the wifi I have to disable the authentication in OBS to be able to connect.
I've streamed without a passphrase so I guess that part's up to you. And I think the worst that can happen is someone tries to hijack the broadcast between your phone and PC, but you'd also have to not be broadcasting yourself. The odds of that happening are pretty slim but still possible. In that scenario I'd just end the stream with a chat command, etc. Of course there's other possibilities too. You never know. I'm currently using a service with a stream key and since I haven't covered this in a video I'll look into it further. Thanks :)
Fantastic series. I'm excited to go through everything and utilize some better IRL streaming practices! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!
So my first issue was just an "unknown error" in IRL Pro, which was solved when I realized the Connect Settings wasn't showing my computer's actual IP address, but now that I've corrected that I'm getting "Authentication Failure, check stream credentials" I don't see you mention anything about the Server Password, but even trying that as the passphrase in the connection on IRL Pro does not seem to fix my issue.
Hi, have you seen the video before this one... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vJ0egf7TA4E.html It covers how to create a new connection using IRL Pro which you can then apply to what you learn in this video about SRT Streaming. Hope that helps. Thanks
@@ketchuphedd OMG I had the SAME ISSUE and your solution helped me! All I had to do was remove "timeout=2000000". @cliffcreates why did we want that in the OBS side in the first place? Thanks!
Hi, you're too kind. Just glad to help. And I've been asked a few times about Prism so I guess it's something I'll have to look into. Can't say when that'll be though. Thanks again :)
Hi, I think I'll make this into a separate video but for now I suppose it depends which iOS app you're using. For Moblin, it can be found in Settings > Streams > (your stream) > Chat and Viewers. For Streamcaster, Streamcast Pro, & Larix, you have to add a third-party overlay (Stream Elements, Streams Labs, etc) as a Web Widget (Settings > Overlays > Web widgets). Hope that helps. Thanks :)
I really found this video useful. I think the pace of your speaking is too slow, but found your other vids didn't give you a second to process or pause the video when following along. This video you feel a little sad /sleepy almost. Tiny pauses in your edit is probably the problem. Hope that makes sense. I also think your multiple videos with specific answers or processes works really well. Might want to recut into multiple vids this one. Finally music is a bit in the forefront of the video and becomes annoying after 10 mins. Maybe you could use docking to dial it back when you are speaking. I also like a 10 to 20 min length for theae how to vids. I really find your channel useful for IRL and don't want this comment to come across as negative towards you. I am just throwing out some feedback. Thanks again for what you are doing for IRL! Scott
Thank you for the feedback, Scott. It's really appreciated. And yeah, I was sick and couldn't read the script with the energy levels required for a video of this length. Agreed and yeah, I've been thinking about that (splitting up the video). Overall lots of great points which I'll remember. And it's all good, this is the perfect comment with things I can work on. Thanks again, Cliff
I have watched all of your videos on the topic of IRL live streams several times and followed all of the instructions. The signal from IRL Pro arrives in my OBS Studio! I can start the stream manually on my computer. But the commands from Streamer Bot simply have no effect. I can write any command in the chat, but nothing happens. Of course, I have added my channel to the users. I have set up port forwarding for 4455 in the firewall and router. If I press the "Test" button for the commands in Streamer Bot, everything works. I think RU-vid is simply not forwarding the commands, even though I have checked all of the permissions in RU-vid. I am at a loss! Do you have any idea what else I can do? I am very grateful for any advice! Thanks in advance! And by the way: I think it would be better if you didn't use music in a video like this. When you try to concentrate on the content, the music is quite distracting, to be honest. Sorry. Your videos are always very educational and helpful though!
OBS Blade ist a very nice app and very easy to install and use. But it makes no sense for me, because you only can use it in WLAN. It´s not meant to use from remote! Why can´t they change this and make it possible?
Fair enough, although I'm not sure what you mean because I can use OBS Blade outside my local network (mobile data only) using the steps in this video and this other one where I cover port forwarding... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WdQt9HRbiSk.html ...but I suppose it depends if your home network supports that type of connection.
I think that happens when you change from a faster to slower speed in the RU-vid video player settings. Try refreshing to see if that fixes it but yeah, weird because it was fine in my video editing software :s Thanks
Hi Cliff! I finally got everything working with OBS, Streamcst Pro, Loopy SRT, and OBS Blade thanks to your videos! Thank you so much. Not sure how I could've done it without them. I'm not sure what happens with the LBR view. Do you have a video that explains it? Also, for privacy is there a way to mute audio when in privacy mode for things like bathroom breaks and private conversations? EDIT: I used advanced scene switcher to create a macro which mutes audio when the privacy scene is active... works great!
@@tonelab77 Hi, you’re welcome and congrats! I explain the LBR view in my latest Loopy SRT video. Basically it has to be named the same as your Cam 1 scene but with LBR at the end like Cam 1 LBR. You can mute audio using Streamer Bot like in my latest video but congrats on the creative solution 👍
@@cliffcreates Right, but does the LBR cam source have to be different from the regular cam 1 source? What happens when low bitrate is detected and the scene is switched to the LBR scene?
@@tonelab77 Cam 1 LBR should be a duplicate of your Cam 1 scene but with a message to say "low bitrate" or similar. Basically, it's a courtesy scene in OBS for your viewers to explain why your stream suddenly looks choppy but still decent enough to watch. Loopy SRT handles the auto scene switching for you. You just need to set up the scenes in OBS and reference them in the Loopy SRT config file. Hope that helps :)
@@cliffcreates Gotcha! That's whaT I was wondering. I have all the config stuff setup correctly so far, but I can't test that one yet. Thanks again, KING!
Streamcast pro does support overlays now, though their implementation leaves a lot to be desired, but after a lot of fussing with them and going back forth, I got them as good as I could.
