@@astirtech Toroidal propellers were in fact, proven to have no significant advantages. Producing less thrust, being heavier, slower, and in some cases louder.
@@Revon-Feuer Thats why the video title is "testing" not "manufacturing all drones with toroidal props" . This one is heavy had has rough finish because of SLA printing. Though different materials and manufacturing will give different results. From what I have researched these props are significantly quieter than regular propellers. Through they produce a bit less thrust.
@@Revon-Feuer And I am not sure where you get your source of information from but it has never been louder in any case. So I think most of your knowledge is just based on assumptions rather than experimentation (Which I did and have shared in this video)
"Find plenty of details" 10:19 That is a horrific 3d print. No self respecting person with a 3d printer would call that acceptable and would have trashed that print early on... my goodness that's bad. LOL they even say smoothly printed models while showing absolute garbage.
Yes I agree that is a terrible print. Though I believe the arm is capable of delivering a better print I think the result was more of user error. And we cant really compair a robotic arm with a 3D printer which is specifically made to print.
Some of these are very expensive. And limited to how many axis they actually have. Build your own - and customize it instead, even learn how a robot works.
These are premade kits with good quality hardware and software which helps understand and learn about robotics. Building a similar arm with same quality and software will cost more and consume a lot of time. especially if the person is still learning and doesn't have all the expertise and tools
It doesn't give equal thrust, but that could be because of multiple reasons. Firstly the prop is heavier as it is 3D printed. And secondly it is not perfectly smooth. So we are still experimenting with it for this perticular drone. Though people have successfully used toroidal props on other medium sized drones successfully.
We haven't published the files yet as it is not fully tested. But you can find references to a toroidal prop on thingiverse which you can then edit to your liking.
120 American is a big ask for those of us who don't want the extras but would gladly play a premium. Especially for people in Canada who get it up the bum from American shippers and our own import taxes. It's a killer kit though. I wish you all the best. I just paid over 2k for a neural dsp to so there's that.
I believe $120 is the price for the subscription pack. the individual kit would be cheaper and this is a kit for makers and hobbyists to learn. Neural DSP is more of a professional kit for musicians
Lol I just got sent to this video from their Amazon store which has 8 units left on prime shipping and it's July 2023, months before the anticipated September launch. Everyone thinks everything that looks cool is a scam these days. This kinda crap is why we have to lock our front doors these days. Paranoia; coming to a block near near you sometime real soon.
Yes, I understand. Though it can do a lot, I am no musician. I tried to make beats using it but couldn't do a very good job. And to test its other features I do not have musical instruments. And I guess that is the case with most of the other makers who got the kit.
I just wonder what anyone does with a robotic arm...? The examples of 3D printing and laser cutting are a stretch, a robot arm is a terrible choice for these applications.
These mini arms are primarily for educational purposes. Students can't get hands on actual industrial robotic arms and these products help give a real life experience at a compact and cheaper price.
