Hey everyone welcome to the channel! Decided to make a new channel to focus on my tv and movie reactions. Currently have reactions for Avatar The Last Airbender (cartoon and live action, can be found on my original channel @EamonnReacts) and have begun The Legend of Korra and 3 Body Problem. Future shows/movies we will be checking out include Dune Part 2, Doctor Who, House Of The Dragon S2, Attack On Titan, and many more!

If you are interested in rugby/league/sports in general I also have a channel where I react to those things. Please consider checking out that and dropping a sub! www.youtube.com/@EamonnReacts

Osha's saber changed color because she "bleed" it. It's a process of charging a kyber crystal with the dark side. The saber broke when Mae through it, so Osha's hand was touching the crystal while she was channeling her dark side killing Sol. That's how sabers turn red in current canon. We've seen it in Jedi: Survivor and in the Darth Vader comics. This is the first time in canon.

Gazan is a Lavabender/Earthbender. There's some new awesome skills to come. Funny you mentionned Azula because Ming Hwa is voiced by the same actress! Zaheer's girlfriend can't be Azula because she's too old: she has the same age as Katara(82-84), dude! Zaheer is around 50 max, he's younger than Tenzin. Azula's fate is in the comics if you're interested. The dragon is from the egg they discovered in the Sun Warriors' temple ruins in ATLA. Upload as you can, don't stress for it.

Unalak was the one who is pure evil in season 2! This season is connected with the final season. A movie with the old adult Gaang will be released in 2025 or 2026. Also, other movie projects like one on Zuko and another on the Legend of Korra are in the works too. The new Earth Avatar after Korra is soon to be released in the same year as the movie. Theatrical versions had hardcoded subs for the fictional languages. Maybe whatever service you were using just decided to use the versions where those are removed to avoid double subs in other countries or something? But a shame, cause Villeneuve movies tend to have super clean Futura font for hardcoded subs, which is nice (and what made me set my video player's subtitle font setting to use it as well lmao)

So... Mae knows that Sol killed her mother, and knows what happened, and seeks revenge from all 4 jedi on that mission, or she had amnesia from the fall... and doesn't know why Qimir wants her to kill these guys... but then she also wants to join the Jedi and leave Qimir, but then when the opportunity comes to join the Jedi she fights them instead, and now she has enemies on both sides... and tries to convince Osha to be a witch again and leave the Jedi too... then she goes with Sol all the way to the ship to kill him in the cockpit, instead of just killing him in the woods when he was vulnerable on the floor. And Sol seems to "feel a connection" to Osha that he can sense, but he is completely fooled by Mae with a haircut... Otherwise he would have not left to the ship leaving Osha behind to die. And Aniseya was on the Jedi's side, but somehow decided to turn into evil black dust and move towards Sol in a menacing way... I am still confused...
@MrKrory
@MrKrory 2 месяца назад
I think for the second time we're not getting the full story of Brendok. We can reasonably assume that Qimir/The Stranger was there, too; we don't know how Mae escaped, we don't know how Qimir knows so much about Sol and what happened on Brendok (Mae probably could have told him her side of things, but he seems to know a lot more about Sol and the events than he should). To me, makes the most sense that Qimir was there for the vergence as well and he played a part in what went down in some way.
@EamonnReactsTV

Oh great points. I completely forgot about Qimir in the context of Brendok. He definitely had to have been there. I'm a little confused on Qimir's age though. He seems to be like mid 30s to me which would make him pretty young at the time of the Brendok flashbacks. Maybe he's a bit older / ages slower.

Mandalorian steel is called Beskar. This guy was using something called Cortosis from the old EU books. It's a rare metal that has a high energy absorption. It can temporarily short-circuit light sabers, but is itself very brittle, which is why Jecki was able to break it. Pretty neat.

Good reaction i enjoyed it. 50:34 I do amateur astronomy and as far as I understand it that isn't possible. Frank Herbert wanted to write something fantastical in his book and invented the idea of a black sun that only gives off infrared light. That's the heat you feel radiating from a hot object. Human eyes can't see infrared light. So you wouldn't see anything with your naked eyes, if it was illuminated with infrared. Stars glow because of a fusion reaction in their core. Producing light from a wide variety of the spectrum, from radio waves to infrared light to visible light to x-rays. It is not possible for a star to just produce infrared light. Since the book was published in the '60s a object called a brown dwarf has been discovered. These are faild stars that are too small to produce a sustained fusion reaction. They do radiate infrared light but it is a small amount. Certainly not enough to warm a planet orbiting it. And again even if it did you wouldn't see anything where you to stand on a planet orbiting a brown dwarf any more than you can see by the infrared light admitted by a boili hot object. This idea is entirely fictional but works to symbolically show the evil black and white nature of the Harconan people.

Regarding seeing Paul as a hero or not, It's important to remember Chani. Throughout, she has been the rational voice of reason against the machinations and scheming of the Bene Gesserit (by design from Denis Villeneuve). Yes, we want Paul to beat the Harkonnens, get revenge for his father, lead the fremen out of oppression etc. But don't forget that from the very beginning, Paul admits to his mom that he's out for revenge, plans to sway the fremen to his side, and use them to get close to the Emperor. Chani (as should we) sees it for what it is, an outside force, a foreigner , manipulating and 'using' the Fremen for their own power games. And dont forget Paul is an engineered super-warrior of sorts himself, totally as planned (kinda, as Jessica sort of jumped the gun by having a boy but he's here now so what's done is done :P ). If you want to just see Paul as a hero, you're ignoring the fact that he's used fabricated religious patterns centuries in the making to subjugate the planet's native population, in order to fight his war and make a bid for the throne of the universe. That isn't a real hero, that's an opportunistic noble taking advantage of an otherwise shitty situation, and abusing the trust and faith of his new followers. Paul in the first half of this movie is trying his hardest to resist the path that has been engineered for him, but due to many many outside forces and events, eventually gives in and embraces the role the bene gesserit have engineered for him. After that he's no longer the good-intentioned resistance leader honouring his father's wishes and becoming one with the Fremen. After that, he's another 'harkonnen'. "This is how we will survive, by being harkonnens." He's a lost cause at that point and Chani sees it. We as the audience should be seeing it too if we aren't completely missing the warnings littered throughout the movie (like paul's visions of a nightmare future, etc). Remember his conversation with Gurney "because you lose control?" no, ... "because i gain it." His take over of the imperium spells the doom of billions, not to mention the uncountable Fremen who will fanatically die for him in battle after battle. All of this death and destruction because of a fabricated prophecy, a bene gesserit plan, to produce a super-psychic who they wish to control. Paul isn't a hero outside of the fremen fanatics that drank the coolaid, he's a warning of what horrible things can happen when you allow a charismatic figure to take control and lead a people unquestioningly into a 'holy war'. And one last point worth mentioning, there's no fixed guarantee that what paul sees as the best way forward IS the best way. It might be the best for his family's immediate survival, but what alot of people take for granted watching Dune, is assuming that because Paul has powers of foresight, that what he sees is the one true way forward, when it can be just as likely that Paul's own biases, desires and prejudice could be learing him to see some paths as better than others, meanwhile billions of innocent people will suffer for it. 👍 Don't worry about being expressive, we can see you react to events just with body language. No need to scream and shout at every scene like some reactors do :P haha. Getting to hear your thoughts on it is the real value in these videos.
@EamonnReactsTV
@EamonnReactsTV 3 месяца назад
Amazing reply. Definitely am understanding it a bit more. I think some preconceived notions/beliefs I had about the story sort of led me away from thinking about what Paul was ultimately doing/becoming. I was sort of under the impression that what happened was inevitable and needed to be done or else the Fremen would become extinct. It's clearly a lot more nuanced than that though.

@@EamonnReactsTV It was a bit wordy, but if i have one flaw it's being willing to talk about something i like endlessly 😆... But yeah, i don't begrudge anyone for not entirely getting the "alarm bells, this is bad" vibe with Paul at first, as good as Denis V's movies are, there's still that possibility that a viewer may take Paul at face value. We all have to remember that even Frank Herbert, dissappointed at how so many people read his book and assumed Paul was the hero, went and wrote the sequel Dune:Messiah SPECIFICALLY to hammer home the message of Paul being a dangerous false messiah. And just as a movie fan too, there's LOTS to enjoy in these two movies without even thinking about the deeper themes of the plot. Dune 2 kicks ass purely on visuals and audio alone! 😎

So thoroughly and nicely put. Especially the last paragraph, which is a point I tried to make to others commentators who said "he did not have a choice blablabla, that is destiny" Well we only know that because that is what he tells us. What if he is lying ? The water of life changed him like it changed his mother (who is not his mother anymore, she is the bene gesserit more than his mother). The Fremen, with him in the last battle against the Emperor, are burning the bodies, not recycling waters, are leaving Dune to fight a war, he is not destroying spice with the nukes, which could bring the green paradise as Dr Liet Kynes said in the 1st movie. He chose to go to the Holy War Path. Chani said : you promised me you did not want power. Well, I think he did. Not so heroic. It is hard because we love Paul, we saw him grow. But does not mean he is a good man.

Without spoiling anything, the message of Dune will become a lot clearer (particularly if you haven't read the books) in Dune Messiah (aka Part Three). It's worth remembering the early scene in the film where he tells Jessica he believes in revenge and plots to manipulate the Fremen in to believing in him so as to aid him in getting to the Baron. Next, there's the scene between Paul and Chani where he tells her if he goes south he'll lose her, which is the key driving force between why he subsequently does what he does. And then of course there's the war council, whereby he uses his newly acquired gifts plus his knowledge of Fremen culture to manipulate them in to believing he is the Lisan al-Gaib. It's very much about the often-stated danger of blindly following a charismatic leader, and the toxicity of religious fundamentalism. I highly recommend you read the books. It'll only add to your appreciation of what an absolute magician Denis Villeneuve is to take such a dense book and adapt it as well as he did across two films; notably with how he took Paul's inner monologues and concerns about the choices he was making in relation to humanity's future, and transposing them on to the woman he loves as a means of helping non-book readers understand the message that Frank Herbert was conveying.

Re: Paul seeing beyond his own death, in the books it directly states that he CAN and DOES. By the time the end happens, and he beats Feyd and takes the throne, he sees that even if he died in the fight, the fremen would rage out across the universe without him- they would say that he died to make their conquests possible. He'd be a legendary martyr. So basically, he was damned if he did, and damned if he didn't. By the time he reached that point, the Holy War (the book actually uses the present-day-politically-loaded term "jihad") was guaranteed no matter what he did or didn't do. The only way to avoid it, basically, was to let his enemies win outright and destroy him and everybody he cared about. Setting himself on the path of revenge in the first place set it up to happen No Matter What.
