Chocolates are prime first basic human need. Foundation of Maslow's pyramid for sure! I am guessing that top secret script was for 'Imagine ecepting the truth'?
This song introduced me to the power of Disturbed. When the song was written, in 1964 , I was still in High School. While in High School.....during biology class, the office PA system interrupted to tell us that president John F. Kennedy had just been shot ...in Dallas. I Walked home that day .......................and life has never, ever been the same since . That was the end of innocence for me. Somehow, this version by Disturbed encapsulates ALL of that and the decades since. The hope of that first, innocent version.... and the reality of what we have become since then... This is the most Powerful thing I have listened to in all my 76+ years. Thank You .... especially to Danny !
I'm a 68 year old fan of music of my youth. I'd never heard of Disturbed until they were introduced on that late night show. It was a recorded episode and I was quite frankly blown away ! I've heard Paul Simon, upon hearing their cover, said Disturbed now owns that song.
Of all the covers I've ever heard by any band or artist, this one was, well, the most shocking. I had imagined any cover of The Sound Of Silence would be something less, I couldn't imagine anyone coming close to capturing the emotional essence of the original, nor could I imagine any true life-long fan of the original being swayed by a cover. Then I heard Disturbed's cover, ready to pass judgement that affirmed my beliefs and was left bloody. It not only captured everything of the original, it surpassed it. Shocking. Respect.
