Yeah well I think even people that do believe in God will eventually lose faith when prayers go unanswered long enough. "God complex - Wikipedia" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_complex
@@justdave923I didn't say all people but if we are referring to the biblical God remember how Job and later Jesus were left to suffer and if God does that to his most faithful why assume he cares to help anyone? Absolute power corrupts absolutely here in this hell on earth maybe it's a blessing to have a miscarriage or lose your ovaries don't breed anymore victims maybe Kim Basinger wishes she didn't have a child with Alec either.
She doesn't look all that bad. On the other hand, Janine Turner, Melanie Griffith, Denise Richards, Courtney Cox, Megan Fox, Lisa Rinna, Vivica Fox, Lil Kim, Serena Williams, Golden Brooks. And then, there 's Mickey Rourke and Carrot Top like WTF!
I agree. He seems to be fascinated by this line from the Gilbert and Sullivan musical. I think it is Sorkin’s favorite way for a proud character to express all his admirable qualities, and then to end with an obvious or somewhat irrelevant characteristic, as if to further elaborate the character’s boastful personality by sounding like a smart aleck. I mentioned something similar in a clip from “Charlie Wilson’s War” (where, thanks to another comment, I was reminded of the line’s origin). There was also an episode in “The West Wing” where the works of Gilbert and Sullivan are repeatedly referenced. It must be a musical or verse that Sorkin really likes…enough to repeatedly reference it in three different scripts.
Its a fair assessment to say the god complex is very much a belief among dotors/ stroke, surgeons, you virtually are the final conduit ,on an operating table ,between a patient living or dying ,there's no denying that feeling. Of without me ,without my skill my ability i am your last hope , therefore i am the only god you need.
I'm a doctor and the premise of this movie never made sense to me. Basically what's happening is that Alec Baldwin's character is faking the "god complex" so that he and his secret girlfriend (nicole kidman) can get a massive insurance settlement. But in order to do this, Baldwin's doctor character will have a difficult time maintaing hospital privileges and is certainly at risk of a medical board action. So we have to assume that Baldwin is just completely fed up with medicine and never wants to work as a doctor again after this con game is played. Like I said, I don't get it. It's not worth it to throw away your career like that.
Alec Baldwin is one of the mst most underrated actors in the history of American film. His monologues are nothing short of legendary. Go watch Glendary Glenn Ross.
"You ask me if I have a God complex? Let me tell you something: I AM GOD....and your name is you're wanting. You can't play in the man's game, you can't close SHIT, YOU ARE SHIT, HIT THE BRICKS PAL, AND BEAT IT COS YOU ARE GOING OUT! (beat, gets up) .... This sideshow is over. (leaves room)"
So many cool things happening at once in that scene, the best in a pretty good film which plays at camp but never crosses the line. Watching this now, I was so impressed by Josef Sommer playing the hospital lawyer with just a hint of menace until he has to do a hard pivot at the end. When you see the whole film, you realize he was the one being blindsided in that room. His great feat is how he lets you enjoy that.
This role was nary a big stray from Alec Baldwin's real personality. If someone dies at his hands, in his mind, it couldn't be his fault. It's the fault of others and his lawyers will prove it.
If that were true, you'd be also going after all th celeb cases of accidents and deaths, on sets, caused by various circumstances, over th decades.... But u don't. U elect, instead, to follow the current trend and attack a guy who previously had a spotless criminal record and an amazing career in film and tv.
It was on the level. 2016 was arguably less so. All of it pushed by Russian propaganda (which is their area of expertise unfortunately). Goal is destabilization of the US. You guys are all "follow the money," now it's time to "follow the sovereign-state chess match" And the reason I know it was on the level is because Trump's own appointed judges threw his cases out. What more convincing evidence do you need?
Favorite scene: The great Anne Bancroft playing the boozed-up mother of Kidman and talking to the naive Pullman. He was smart enough, though, to bring a bottle.
@@toddgaak422 Let’s not get carried away. I mean he’s not a child molester. He has a bad temper, but this whole tragedy shooting on the set is complete garbage. When the actor is handed a firearm he assumes the gun wrangler has made it safe. It wasn’t his fault.
Onetime the division president of the company came down and quoted us “FIND THE LEADS” unironically . It was at that point I knew I had to get out fast.
I saw this movie in the theater and never forgot it, and as soon as I was able to, had to upload it here as one of my favorite monologues. (If you like brilliant monologues, see Glengarry Glen Ross...)
