A few notes. This is long. Fair warning. 1. Patches like those are pricey. I have worked in the garment industry for 38 years. Each of those patches are likely 25000-35000 stitches. That's a long run. They're done is sheets, then manually trimmed to size, merrowed, and then they have to assemble the Velcro backing. That's a lot of work. If you don't want to pay the price for quality work, then you may go without. Fact. You get what you pay for. 2. Your box denting isn't a CGL issue. That's a courier issue. If you have a complaint, file a ticket with the courier and leave CGL out of it. It's beyond their control. 3. The dry erase sheets are in colour for few reasons. It goes beyond "flash". I am going to assume that you're neurotypical. Call it a hunch. Those whom are neurodivergent (ADHD, Autistic, etc) really respond to differentiation via colour. How do I know? I am one of them. As are my kids and my grandson. Trust me, It works. If you do not want them, donate them to those whom can use them. They'll appreciate it. 4. The "peg" on the quads is for exactly what you thought. But, if you disassemble a standard two-leg mech, you'll notice they are not just glued down, but also have pegs into the base. This is obviously for stability. The Quad legs are either off of, or on the edge of the base. This means they could not use a standard peg/slot configuration without risking cracking the base. Now, since you're likely not in manufacturing, cracking a LOT of bases during production is a huge time and money sink over a vat production run. Better to go with the clear peg, reduce the risk, and guarantee delivery in a timely basis. Which, as you've clearly stated, was even more timely than you accounted for. 5. Dice. Facts first. I guarantee I'm older than you. By a lot. Unless you were born before 1966, which i doubt. The first run of dice produced by CGL were a bloody disaster. They were misshapen, unbalanced and a complete wreck. These do not appear to be so. If they roll well, you're gold. Maybe let go of the "sparkly" issue. I'm a CIS white dude, formerly patched biker and long time grognard. I have zero issue with these dice. If you don't want them I'd gladly give them a home. "I'm a guy" isn't an excuse. 6. You're not stupid, Dave. You're picking at imaginary lint on a thousand dollar suit. That's different. 7. The large scale Timberwolf is for Destiny scale RPG play. Place a standard 28mm figure next to it. It's not a waste. It's a test bed to scale interest. I have Destiny. I'd love two stars of those bad boys.
From start to fifteen minutes in he discounts his complaints more than anything else which is negative in itself. His sense of "Perfect" is for seemingly just him, they did how they did in the best interest of all.
I removed the pegs from myb quads. They stand just fine without the pegs or hexes. I would rather use heavy metal pro, mech factory, or other places you can print of mech sheets. Especially if you can customize them. I still feel the Timberwolf is a waste.
I paint the front and back hex facings on my mechs. Front only can work, but showing back can make it easier to determine from some angles without having to move stuff around.
I'm not impressed with any of the posters. Because I hate double side posters. So if I like both, I have to choose only one. Also, they have been folded, so now they have creases in them. And you can see them so they look ugly.
I agree that the sparkly dice are too hard to read quickly. If it was me, I would have chosen black or even red for the pips and chevron, since it's on a light background. I also think the high quality record sheets has a problem with readability because they chose Black on Grey. They should have had Whit lettering on the grey background so that it is more legible.
10,000% agree with you that classic BT should absolutely be museum scale. CGL know what mechs everyone likes. We don’t need every mech or every variant, I think a dozen IS and dozen Clan designs and call it done.
If your small gripes are all that is really wrong with this Kickstarter then it’s a total home run. Nothing is ever going to be perfect when it ships out to 22,000 people. That’s a whole lot of different opinions on what perfect is.
I feel like the rim of the base is [relatively] a lot of wasted space. I often colour code models with paint on the rims, but I often think it would be interesting to try to put important stat numbers on the base, in some standardised order. I've never tried it, but I really like the idea of marking the front with those caution stripes.
I’m over 40 with a -7.5 prescription and have no problem reading any of the text. Good video but your complaints are all personal preference and not real problems.
Complaining about the postage is one thing now that you have the Mercs KS in your hands. Some of us around the world not in the US could be waiting weeks or months before we get ours.
Ugghh! I was going to try, but I received my Kickstarter stuff 2 days early which is a good thing. I was totally going to push myself, but when all the new shiny stuff appeared... all hope was lost
Reg. the V: just check the old MechCommander... and then Battletech 2018 (the PC game, where a Dev from MechCommander was Studio head)... and you will understand. :)
All the Novellas that are in each of the boxsets could be better utilized if there was a few scenarios related to the fiction at the back of the Novella.
@@rburt3 yes they did. I have played them too. There was one thing sorely missing g from the Alpha boxset though. A non hex map sheet to go with the cardstock buildings.
I totally agree. I can't totally remember, but i think I had a choice for black dice? Or was it that I could purchase different black chevron dice... I believe they had options. The quality is great on the dice.
It's one per pledge. It sounds like he added the second one on. Many of us pledged using multiple emails in order to to ensure that we got all the swag. With as much as shipping was, probably wasn't wotth the extra Masters and Mad Cat 100mm.
Drink every time he mispronounces "Dougram" for a true challenge. But yes, it's a well shot video with some decent commentary and with some different content than some of the other folks showing off and reviewing the Mercenaries Kickstarter stuff.
The lrm carrier can switch out for a srm carrier. Re dice... I'm an old hetro dude and love the sparkly dice cant wait for mine. Not going to tell you to shut up but perhaps find your inner child and enjoy the sparkly 😊 though I agree about the beige 😊
