The guards at the Parliament building are not allowed to talk, this is why they did 't answer your question. The other flag on the building is the flag of Szeklerland (Székelyföld in Hungarian). Szeklers are a subgroup of Hungarians who live in the middle of today's Romania in a very close community. Szeklerland was part of the Hungarian Kingdom (Greater Hungary) for 920 years until it was taken away from Hungary after WWI in 1920. In the early 2010s Romania banned the usage of flags of minorities which was aimed at the Szekler minority. After this the Hungarian government decided to put the Szekler flag on the Parliament building in 2013 and since then it is up there. Bratislava, capital of today's Slovakia was also a part of the Hungarian Kingdom. It was the coronation city of Hungarian kings. It is nice but smaller than Budapest or Vienna because it was not a capital city in the kingdom. All the old buliding, castles (for example the Grassalkovich castle) is built by Hungarians there. In fact the city has still lot of Hungarian and German inhabitants (Bratislava=Pozsony is Hungarian, Pressburg in German). There are a lot of beautiful cities in today's Hungary too. Szeged, a famous university city. Pecs which has a Turkish temple in the middle of the city from the time of the Turkish occupation (1500s-1600s). Eger which has a big castle which was built against the Turkish. Eger also has one of the few The Beatles museums around the world. Lake Balaton is gorgeous too especially if the weather is nice. Enjoy your time in Hungary!
