The greatest cellist of the 20th century, in my opinion. His sense of the music was exquisite. That, besides his technique of the instrument which was close to perfection.
This is a brilliant 1920s tune I am fond of, and this hot version is absolutely smashing! Both the peppy arrangement and Franklyn Baur's (sadly underrecorded), smooth refrain are fabulous. Thank you so much for sharing this gem!

Średnio miły był ten wieczór, niestety, bo śledziłem rozwój wojny w Libanie. Wstrząsające zdjęcia, potem nie mogłem spać. Byłem tam 10 lat temu, w pustelni św. Charbela, w klasztorze Annaya. Teraz na to wszystko lecą bomby. I nikt nie ma nagle zastrzeżeń, jak było w przypadku ukrów. Pozdrawiam.

One of my favourite Rosen pieces. Fine Lyrics by Schwabach. When played by full orchestra it is sublime. Yes, Dajos was one of the best in the Weimar period. He recorded also an instrumental version. The singer here i believe is Alfred Strauss. Written for 1929 film with Lilian Harvey. (Some credit Rosen and Willy Schmidt-Gentner) i have a recording of Willy singing it with audience participation - "Sehr gut". Also whistling!
