I loved the giant 48 pan plastic cotman box. Though I think cotman are the worst student grade paints out there and not worth the money the box itself was really handy. One thing to know is that I had mine about 12 years and the plastic went a horrible shade of yellow white like it has been in a smokers house. I had to throw it away. Even though I have lots of palettes now I would have kept that cotman one as a main palette had it not turned yellow. Edit: I love the long thin schmincke. I realised the other day mine would be good for en plain air because it has lots of little mixing areas and is light to hold with the ring underneath. The more mixing areas the better when outside.
Definity agree with you there, not a huge fan of cotam paint and I've found the white night container really nice to use between the two of them! Mine thankfully haven't yellowed yet... I love the thin schmincke palette to take places, fits so easy in my bag, great paints and so much mixing space!!
dang, quite something to forget to mention, It goes by a few brands but the one I have is by Jasart and is call the voyage watercolour travel set. Definity recommend it!!
i dont paint so much, in 4 years I still find I'm in a stick doll phase yet , but I have to say I bought a lot of paint, van gogh, meliang , pentel, lukas aliexpress, professional I have the white nights from ali and I found a great promotion in the winsor and newton kit and jesus how diferent is the cotman to WN , I have to paint more. Here in Brasil art materials are more expensive and more dificult to find , in te coutryside is more easy buying online , here I just find scholar watercolor, pentel and artools and the paper that I hate the mix media by canson, I preffer xl aquarelle by canson that don't sell here in my city, I hate the line texture and the paper don't hold well watercolor and layer!!! I like the colorfull schimink pallete and the skinny one I think very cute!!!
I love hearing other peoples prefances, it really does make a difference where you are in the world as to what is more accessible, online ordering is truly the easiest way to try a verity of affordable watercolours. I hope you do start painting more it can be so relaxing after a long day :)) Loved reading your comment
Fair enough! I do genuinely love this set, like a great colour group but it was pricey. If you already have some of the colours in the set and don't like them don't bother i'd say.
@@elvie_wworth I'll heed your advice, I do have similar colour. I think I will opt for the Kuretake Nouveau palette (another palette on my wish list), the colours are very unique and beautiful. Have you tried them?

@@elvie_wworth Yes, I used to get emails starting with "Kia ora" (please excuse the spelling) and ending with "Mihi nui". Thank you for promoting your language even in small bits <3
Maybe take out the 5 extras, shuffle the 3 spaces at each end. Buy the 8 metallic colours and fit them in to get the full cotman range in! You'll need to file off the bobbles of plastic that almost hold in the pans. Use double sided tape to hold the pans in place!
I do love the Rembrandt paints, they are so buttery to use and great pigmentation! It really depends if want those extra qualities or would rather spend less. I hope this helps :))
another note is this set is student grade so I won't recommend if you were wanting to sell any of the pieces using this set because it would fade faster.
all these colors are very good - highly pigmented , non-toxic ... I like this cute practical compact tin incl enough space for color mixing and you can also put in 2 finest normal long brushes by side of the colors. this tiny palette is very good for students and artists for trying and practice ... I hope you have the same fun like me with these colors. :)
@@elvie_wworth you can probably easily find some of those overhead camera filming clamp/arms online with a light... but I do not know what your budget is
nice painting. its so good to see a landscape of nz...no pine trees in sight lol. im trying to learn watercolour painting from you tube vids/tutorials and cant find anything with our bush and not full of pine trees. thanks for sharing your talents
You are so kind thank you so much!!!! Yeah it was an amazing location for painting the native bush and was so surprised by all the native animals and plants around. Your comments really are so helpful for keeping going with my random videos :)
