We love shearing our camping adventures in our Vintage Cruiser Camper. We also give tips and tricks that we get from our experiences and others who have gone before us.
Enjoyed the Buc-ees tour, been there and done that . I got shots but were ruined by me holding on an angle Lol. We need one up North here in the Big Apple Lol. nice Job enjoyed the vid
When the ac kicks on it has a power surge more than 15 amps. It settles back to 15 amps. But it’s that initial surge that will flip the breaker. Ther are units you can add to your ac that will absorb the initial surge which will then allow 15 amp usage
Mine is a 2004 model year system. I have the electric 'sacrificial heating rod' as well. I don't have the on/off switch at the outside service panel. I turn my water heater off at the breaker panel inside the rv before we head home. No point in heating water all week when nobody is there. It only takes about 30 minutes for the 5 gallon system to make hot water again after we arrive. Most RV water tanks like this, can also make hot water with your RV's on board propane system for when electric is not available.
It draws too many amps, you'll trip a breaker or cause a fire. 15 amperes are good on 14 gauge wire his "15 amp extension chord" would light on fire especially if the breaker doesn't trip. 30 amperes require 10 gauge wire. I'm an electrician, and honestly this video really shouldn't even be on the internet for the safety of people watching that have no idea how electricity works.
I run AC all summer. It's 2023 I started in 2018. I burnt up the converter in 2020. Replaced with a smart converter. Was told it wouldn't work but I read as long as the amps of replacement are higher not lower then original it be fine. An it's been fine. Only issues is if I try plugging 2 RVs on one breaker.
@kelsieclyke if your using extension cored get the shortest thickest possible. But if you can do without the extension, amazon has an adapter the you can plug 30amp shore cord in an plug the adapter into both the house outlets i wanna try it .an the first year or 2 used a simple little 30amp to 15amp adapter but I'd suggest the more expensive ones. They can still melt but in my case lol It's been over 110 degrees for 2 months an I'm running 2 55 amp converters. I got like 5 ac unit's running plus lol I can share pics. I'd anyone don't believe me lol
What is everyone talking about? I'm going on 3 months straight of living in my camper and 24/7 ac tv lights the entire thing. It's like you all saw they same video at the top of the RU-vid search. Yall know there's different size extension cords right? My cord is as thick as hulks thumb. I literally never shut my ac off I live in Florida. My tv stays on 24/7 as well as my fan.
@@vintagecruiseradventures9268also Solar Is expensive like 17k expensive what do I have to do run the 5th wheel on power without it connected to the house?
@@ramiroamador6930 yeahh the amount of power it takes to run the A/C, lights , and appliances just from 30 amps is not enough current to run all of it i have a big food truck thats pretty much has more appliances than an average RV so i had to get a 12,000 watt generator
Well, I initially gave you a thumbs up. You really presented this well, and kept it simple. Though I feel you must have left something out. I had already purchased the correct replacement cable, so I went right out and as you said pulled the plug from the module. Result, (1) I immediately started smelling burnt wiring and insulation followed by smoke coming from the module and connected wires. (2) I shoved in the new plug in as quickly as I could and everything began to cool back down over the course of a few minutes. (3) I can see that the insulation and wires coming from the module are burnt and crisp. (4) Wires exiting the module and most likely the module itself will now have to be replaced as I no longer have confidence that it will proudly function in an emergency. (5) The entire electrical system in my camper was tripped when this happened, I only hope nothing else was damaged and that my brakes are not frozen up when I attempt to pull my camper tomorrow. Probably my most expensive 15 minute lesson yet. I have withdrawn my thumbs up.
I’m so sorry to hear your troubles. However, I’m sure thousands of people have replaced this as well as I have. It’s a very simple procedure and I can’t imagine why your situation occurred. I would take it into a dealer immediately. But I’m very confident it’s not the module. But thanks for giving me all the information and I hope everything works out well for you.
Also, I never replaced any box for module. The only thing that was replaced was the frayed wire that comes with your camper. No module was ever exchanged.
