i believe it has to do with incest...Researchers analyzed the genomes of 128 Ashkenazi Jews and compared them to those of non-Jewish Europeans in order to determine which genetic markers are unique to Ashkenazi Jews. They found that the Ashkenazi Jews’ genetic similarities were so acute that one of the study’s researchers, Columbia professor Itsik Pe’er, told the Live Science website that among Ashkenazi Jews, “everyone is a 30th cousin.”

How well I remember Jacqui’s chanting of Jonah. After my husband’s passing 4 yrs ago, I moved to Philadelphia to be close to my son Dan and his family. I now am a member of the beautiful Rodeph Sholom synagogue. While I’m not an active participant, I have wonderful memories of my active participation in Temple E-Manuel. Susan Yemin

sorry I was unable to connect on the 6th, but glad that the meeting was recorded for all of us to learn and fill connected. I miss being at Temple and look forward to the time when we are back. The building, in my opinion, is the least of our concerns. I want the next generations to fill connected to Judaism and Israel. A gutten tag! Adele Shafman
