Doctors use a lot kidney fuction but they also use renal disease. Should we always interpret as RENAL because i understand that for some reason they prefer to use the term kidney and not renal. Otherwise, they will just say renal function. I believe we are changing the register if they use kidney and we translate it for renal.

Mr Nestor is absolutely amazing, I’m a Ky certified Spanish interpreter ready for the federal written test and he is the best tutor I’ve ever seen ( unfortunately not in person) and I’m talking since I started interpreting in 1997 including Holly Mikklelson who I met in a workshop many years ago in TN. After listening to these clases all I can say is that there is no need to look elsewhere. I do have literature from Acebo, University of Arizona and NAJIT to practice but as an instructor or teacher he is it ..!

When I read the comments, I see lots of mistakes both in English and Spanish. This is the main reason people cannot pass an interpreter test. They lack language proficiency. Of course there are other factors, but this is the main one: wanting to fly when you do not know how to walk.

Listening to Mr. Wagner helped me a lot in passing the Oral Exam. Grasping everything he is saying here is very important to guide you As you prepare for the exam. As a result of following his instructions, i passed the oral exam making me as the only male certified Tagalog Interpreter by the Judicial council. Thanks Mr. Wagner

I find this very helpful, as a Spanish speaking person I understand local slangs but some LEPs mention words that are totally unknown for me. Thanks for the terminology and the list of slangs (I have heard some of them), I followed the practice scenario as well. Thanks a lot.

To become a good interpreter, you need a strong foundation in both the source and target languages you'll be working with. This includes vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding. Practice active listening and develop excellent communication skills to convey messages accurately and fluently. Formal education or training in interpretation techniques can be highly beneficial. Gain real-world experience by working in diverse settings and interpreting a variety of topics. Continuously improve your knowledge and stay updated on current events and terminology in your field of expertise. Finally, cultivate patience, adaptability, and professionalism, as these qualities are essential for successful interpretation. Thanks, SCSIMedia!

Iam shock, are you teaching a literal translation or a comprehensive translation. I did not heare cultural meaning in your teaching, what is the translation to English Timepo cumplido?? could it be 3 or 4 days credits..?? is the word credit applies as TIEMPO SERVIDO>>> a translator needs, know linguistics as mening for meaning.... Do to cultural differences........ Example Usted cumplio 2 dias de credito...O usted sirvio 2 dias de credito...meaning -2 days of my jail sentence... servir Meaning +2 days of sentence

I just completed the interpreting training and passed the court interpreter exam. I have been interpreting for years and speak multiple languages so I had a solid background, however I never go to an exam without proper training and practice, if you do, you will most likely fail. localizations are very important, same as the professional lingo. Best of luck to you all and hope you pass the exam and can start assisting those with language barriers.

This Southern California School of Interpretation is the work of a lifetime of dedication and persistence. Thank you for this video.

Usaría “secreción” para interpretar “discharge” en vez de “supuración”. Superación significa que la secreción lleva pus. “Discharge” no necesariamente significa que esté infectado. Puede ser líquido claro saliendo de una herida o fluido vaginal o secreción nasal por ejemplo.

1:12:54 “Luxación” For an interpreting EXAM - yes. But for a large part of the LEP patient population for Spanish, specifically more from certain areas between South and North America, where there’s a tendency to identify parts of the human body with terms used for a cow and meat cuts… 🤦🏻{sighs} yeah, not so understood. And they won’t ask what it means either if you use a term correctly so you may end up having to go back cuz at the end of the doc’s spiel they weren’t getting what the diagnosis or question meant… or maybe just negotiate using cow parts like “chamorro” or “quadril” … and btw “brazo” is used to mean ANY part of the arm, like the hand, and the same goes for “pie”, which could for them mean the whole leg, or a knee, but less often foot, ironically … So, get ready to clarify A LOT.

1:00:31 So, never in my 18 years of certified medical interpreting and translation services, including psych ward and psych evaluation, have I ever considered using or heard anyone else say “trauma psíquico”… this could be very misconstrued by both patient and provider.

Hello! I have just started a Portuguese/English Interpretation Training. Do you know any on line course I could take to do better on this job interview I will soon have (I really want to be hired)?
@CaptainHorus1
@CaptainHorus1 Год назад
@@sanzashop Hi!, first of all I wish you all the best to you and I hope you to get hired ASAP. Unfortunately most of the courses I'm taking right now are from English/Spanish Interpretation but there are a few Facebook pages that may help us to do it better. Those are only English speaking pages, I've never paid any online course in my life and also I've never been living in USA or a English speaking country, because this skills/abilities are from experience and practice the best advice I would say is just to consume content in English. May be tough but watching or listening to English series/movies/songs is a great idea. Also changing your devices or videogames language to English may help A LOT. It may sound insignificant but it REALLY helped me to expand my vocabulary and grammar also the slangs and idioms I know. I can affirm that the most effective way to improve in this field is practicing. If you know a native English speaker or If you are maybe In a Discord server or you know "Omegle" there should be always somebody to help for free. And you can make friends too! Wishing you all the best, feel free to ask something else. By the way, I haven't started my training yet because I'm in a process of moving so hopefully in a week or two I will begin my training courses, meanwhile I'm practicing.

This style of interpretation only serves the interpreter and their ego. You are interpreting for the patient, not to pat yourself with your Spanish on your back. Because you are interpreting FOR THE PATIENT, you use the closest interpretation available that is understandable for the patient. Most of the options offered here are too elevated for many Spanish-speakers who come in as patients, adding confusion in a conversation.

Whole bunch'o times he said, this is for the exam, but in real life...weren't you payin'attention? A true, professiona, certified interpreter will know, IMMEDIATELY when to use what term FOR COMMUNICATION PURPOSE

I have my thoughts on some things here. “Office” as “consultorio” will NOT transfer well in the Caribbean. “Oficina” is a much accurate interpretation.
