Really enjoyed watching that, look forward to seeing more! Really interesting to see how a different lure would have done, or if it was the camera putting them off committing.
Thank you so much! Being a seasoned beach fisherman for many years, I decided to start lure fishing this year and after having been a half a dozen or so times trying various techniques and lures I drew a blank on every occasion. After watching your video I was inspired so gave the Mega Bass Zonk a go this morning. There were three of us lure fishing at low water off the Hamble river shingle bank and we all tried different lures without even a hint of a bite. After about an hour I switched to the Mega Bass Zonk and after a few casts with it, bang!... a nice 3lb bass. ;-)
Brilliant idea tying the line to reel handle when doing an FG knot. Iv'e been wedging my rod in a rock and holding the line in my teeth, awkward enough in my garden let alone when out fishing. Definitely doing that next time.
a great video. there is that no public fishing sign there, do you close a blind eye to it or will they not mind if you fish there? I'm pretty new to the area (1yr) so a bit unsure... such good footage though.
I talked to my mate who is the Environment Agency fisheries officer…. It’s a bit of a grey area…… I avoid it now, the residents can get a bit funny about it
great video. soo good the season has opened again, and I've fished this stretch a few times. is it allowed to fish for trout during trout season on this stretch? I was never sure so avoided until the coarse season beginning. let me know. keep it up, might bump into you one day
Yes the river falls under a bye law that allows lure fishing for trout (sub 3” I think) . Obviously occasionally you get an unwanted course species… just return quickly
@@theoccasionalangler6956 thanks. I appreciate your videos, as I fish this area and love it but family and work sometimes conflict with the amount of time available to get out. tight lines!💪
i will try and get out again soon (now the river season is underway!) ..... currently i am trying to open the scores with the bass.... had three blowup last week, but no hookups!!
it is beautiful, and seatrout run up it aswell, but it literally runs between an industrial park and housing estate.... i was really surprised to see such a large snake!
Sebile stick shads worked well, metal casting jigs 20-40g and fish black minnows (small size) although the black minnows go shredded very quickly …. Find cheap alternatives!
hi mate... going as family last week in July, staying in St Michael de Re... cannot wait! Any marks you could advise on for lure fishing and are there plenty of charters to choose from for a trip out? Thanks for sharing... 3rd time I've watched this and it really helped me choose a destination for family holiday that suits everyone that's not Cornwall!
Great video! I've been asking this question myself for a while. The casting test surprised me, I thought there would be a bigger difference! Completely unrelated to the video but what is that backpack? It looks really great for days out with the old rod and line!
Thanks Thomas, the fluoro would have cast a bit further than the braid had i put enough line on the spool! the rucksack was a klattermusen... made out of kevlar.... and it really is bombproof
Been targeting perch on the float with worms this year and I'm getting bitten off by pike 1 - 2 times per session without fail. Definitely giving this a try. I doubt very much that a greedy perch will be bothered by the fine wire. Cheers for the idea.
In short …. No, both cameras are really designed for full daylight and have no facilities to light a shot. If you are bait fishing , you could cable tie a bright waterproof led light to the camera?
Yes it is nice and lite, because the rod is glass fibre it also loads up really easily which help casting a lot…. Also cushions the lure when trout jump during the fight… loose less fish from hooks pulling
Hi, good review. I have the exsense genos s90mh but i am interested in buying the infinity rod in either M or ML action for casting 10g soft plastics and also to be able use it with 20g metal jigs ect. Do you think the ML or M would be better suited for that?
@@theoccasionalangler6956 Apia are good rods but on the heavy side. I do prefer the lightness of the top end Shimano's rods. I am just not sure if should I go with the ML or M for general purpose but still soft enough to cast light silicone lures like the Fiiish ect. The rod will be 9'6 for a fixed spool reel. It's an expensive rod so I want to make the right choice before I order it from Japan.
The problem with Westin is that they have zero customer support. My Westin broke after the first use and I couldn’t get answers from their team. The issue is related to the cap not pressing the button fully or turning the camera off when you cast. Anyway, gonna try the water wolf to see how it fairs.
Yes they are over priced….. but they happen to be one of my most consistent lures for bass. If your investing multiple hours of your time on the bank , I want to be confident I know the lure catches
This is an actual Guy. Ha ha. Anyway, I am curious about 2 things. 1st, what is that pick called & where can I get one? And 2nd, is that a super small tubing & what is it called? Man, those are tiny perch! Where I'm from, those are called walleye food! 😂😂 Thanks! Like this very much.
@theoccasionalangler6956 yeh I chanced upon it when trying to loop the line round my finger to tie it and suddenly had a light bulb moment and put it on the reel handle. I do a different finish to you so might need to investigate that a little more.
Hello mate, brilliant video!! Really enjoyed it!! Bit of of strange one, need to pick your brains, about river fishing?? Yes 15th of march close season?? Does the apply to my local Seasalter dikes?? Your input would come in really handy pls?
How wierd… I was actually cycling around monks hill today thinking about that exact question…. In short, several years ago I made the mistake of fishing these dykes outside of the river season and making a video about it……. I was crucified for doing this although to this day I don’t know if it actually falls under the river season……. To be absolutely sure I would assume it does fall under the river close season and I would suggest you contact the environment agency and get a definitive answer. Hope that helps
Cheers for the reply mate! Much appreciated.I will contact them to see how it stands for these dikes!! I know canals are still open, but to be honest I can't see these dikes being a problem?? I'll make sure anyway! I'll let you know if I get a reply.thanks mate
THANKS for the video QUESTION Are the cameras Wifi. To be able to watch live on a mobile phone while the camera is in the water. Water wolf ? WESTIN ESCAPE ? I am waiting for your answer and soon another camera will come to my hobby. Happy Catching.

17.45 your summing up I think you mean the Westin is the better slimmer design -you are showing it in your right hand though you actually said The waterwolf is the better design.. thanks for doing this comparison .
