A few more tips: - use cobwebs for chimney smoke - use depth instead of texturing. Make your walls 2 blocks thick and use recessed wall panels, supporting columns etc - if you're emulating early release versions you can even use slab and stair patterns on the walls - Leaves when combined with wood and trapdoors make for great flower pots, hedges, houseplants, etc. - you can cheat a special double slab block that inspired modern smoothstone. We used to use that all the time in beta days. - use snow blocks, lapis and the top side of sandstone in your build. These have very smooth textures (similar to the double slab block). - Red wool used as carpet with sandstone or snow blocks surrounding it feels like an expensive marble floor. - You can use lapis as pool liner to increase the perceived depth of a fountain or pool. - push a half slab or wooden stair into a minecart put signs on it to simulate a usable chair. We used to do that all the time back in beta.
Highly recommend Beta Continuum as a beta emulation resource pack as well Swigly stopped working on Simpler Times to collab with shmoobalizer to make the 'best modern beta resource pack' (subjective) it also adds old beta features with shaders making it truely feel like beta much more than golden days ever could in my opinion
