After playing for a bit in 7.0 removal of Huton gauge make playing ninja more enjoyable. I wish "kunais" were used more frequently like in AoE combo rather than only to boost 1 ability. Also I find getting kunais and spending thema little weird: you get 2 per armor crush you spent 1 per Aeolian edge you can hold max 5
My guess as to why tendo is 3.2 (2.8) is because it has a cast and they want you to have a double weave window since the cast takes one weave. I don’t know why they want this but that was the only reason I thought of when I originally saw it. I don’t think it’s a good change though. Feels gross was a good way to put it.
Non-raider here. haven't played Dawntrail yet (still focusing on PC upgrades) but i don't like the sound of the Meikyo change and i really need to rewatch a few times to understand that tacking Tsubame ready and Tendo into Meikyo is definitely not the answer, the EW version of Meikyo is to me a good change with just extra stack to use. Tendo getting locked into meikyo is annoying to read and funnily enough i thought Midare getting upgrades permanently not with this Tendo shenanigans. And fixing this is actually easy, bring back kaiten but change it to give tendo and cooldown adjustment and all that. Why the eff is tsubame tacked into meikyo (in EW i think it's just 2 stacks of Meikyo, nothing more nothing less iirc) god only knows. isn't tsubame just ready after you iaijutsu? just leave it like that! oh and let me tell you the other changes in EW i am mostly fine but the loss of Kaiten is what i actually raged on even as a casual player, the loss of Kaiten make Samurai a snoozefest to play and giving midare auto crit? regardless of the crit change i think it's just compensation for losing Kaiten which i begrudgingly accept after the loss of Kaiten
I dont like my second midare being locked behind Meikyo but it is what it is. But to make it like Ninja's Chadori and lose it if you dont immediately use it? THEE FUCK?!
As a SAM main, I dreaded coming back to my main class after DT release. I finally did so yesterday and everything felt wrong. This will be the first time since Stormblood that I can no longer enjoy my favorite class. The Meikyo change feels almost malicious because it makes me hate my favorite class so much.
I wish they would change Mug/Dokumuri so the debuff adds to the counter of existing debuff rather than overlaps. It sucks how its a ninki generator in your opener but if you overlap with other ninja's on it then its a big raid-wide dps loss. They need to either make it not generate ninki, or make it extend the debuff if someone else already applied it.
Do you plan on doing a gameplay rotation video? I'd love to see you explaining the rotation while showing the actual rotation, and what to use when the fight doesnt let us do the perfect dummy rotation.
It's hard for me to understand rotations when it's written down. Will wait for the video guide till then but appreciate the time and effort that goes into these!
@@owl.a987 Will probably make a proper guide in the somewhat near future. I have finished MSQ and am going to blind prog the extremes on Picto, so once I feel confident enough on the job to feel I can identify potential pitfalls and how to play it well, then I'll make the guide.
As a SAM main the changes they made feel clunky and not as smooth as it previously did, its almost like there is a hic-up inside the rotation and things dont line up properly. Do not like.
Especially during openers where your first living muse is a pom, wouldn't you want to spend a 4s gcd inside burst window to get wing + mog for 2400 potency? Or is the hammer combo just so strong this isn't worth doing, and you only shoot for a Mog/Madeen in non-opener bursts?
Yes, but it is irrelevant to the point being made and the math accompanying it. I could have added another column to the end of each hypothetical ending timeline to include it, but it's clutter on the main point of holy as filler and rgb cringe.
People need to let go of kaiten. yes we all miss it. But fr, GET OVER IT , I'm so tired of people acting like kaiten was the jobs entire identity, the amount of crying ppl do over it is annoying . Yes the skill was cool af but those saying Sam lost its identity after we lost kaiten and those who quit are doing too much lol . I do agree with the sentiment of wishing they would give us another kenki spender other than shinten for real but either way, a true samurai will keep on the path kaiten or not. 💯
@siinuxxblume5123 its not that I don't miss the old skills, but for me the core identity of the class is the building of Sen and executing the Quickdraw techniques, I am sad they took kaiten away but it just isn't enough to make me quit. I do however wish we could get a different Kenki spender cuz spamming shinten is kinda mid I will admit lol
I was a summoner main in shadowbringers, and a pretty high-performing one during Edens Verse Savage too. But after they killed the jobs complexity and depth I haven't found a job that's felt the same, to the point where I lost the desire to raid in Endwalker. Pictomancer is finally starting to scratch that itch again and your math videos have been amazing in getting me hyped about trying to really master a job and raid again. Thanks for the hours you've spent figuring this math out for us!
Today I was mostly powerleveling Picto to 90 so I can do MSQ with it and I have to say it feels even better to play than I had hoped. It might be my new favorite job.
10:30 one thing from what i can see from media tour footage and current tooltips is that the subtractive buff that turns rgb into cym doesn’t have a time limit, so using it to just get a comet before a downtime phase should be valid! the important thing seems like not timing out on the combo, which you can manipulate with the longer and shorter casts, so filler should be very cool to optimize in ultimate and such great vid! I'm excited to try out picto
yay, glad I caught this! finding small creators such as your royal flanness was like finding brilliant opals on the beach of Tural. I've already had plenty enough of the more over-hyped CC's while I was in my SHB -> EW hype phase, and I appreciate these channels able to go in directions they want rather than the established "vibes" said, bigger CC's had cultivated.
Did some math with the current potencys in the job guide. In a vacuum the Single target combo is optimal at 1-3 targets, and the AoE Combo is optimal at 4+. Rainbow drip was taken to a back alley and stopped before its time... Hammer Muse trumps all of it, even if you have to draw it in combat.
Job guide is out! They seem to have made some changes, including increasing the AoE combo actions by 50%. Also Rainbow Drip has 85% falloff and 1000 potency.
They just released the potencies for launch and several things have been adjusted thankfully. Rainbow drip was brought down to 1000 for one, so maybe it works out now!
Could you share the spreadsheet now that potency values have been updated (Full notes have been released :D) or a followup video with new potencies? loved this video and I'm curious how numbers change with the updated values!
I'm plugging in some numbers now. Main takeaways are that single target is mostly similar, Rainbow Drip + Holy memes are gone, and AoE is a gain on 4 targets
It honestly just feels like they went after the 2 jobs that have beneficial non standard rotations and forcing everyone into the standard rotation. I'm a very casual samurai player and these changes feel targeted for this reason. Nobody was having issues with 2 stacks of tsubame. And while I understand the attempt to make a clean rotation, hagakure already exists for this reason. I'll still play it but monk definitely looks more attractive right now.
Shouldn’t your comet loop include two comets instead of just once since you skip out on using holy it will convert to black paint. So you should be able to do rgb, rgb comet, cym, comet?
Subtractive Palette only turns 1 Holy (your next use) into a Comet. So RGB, RGB generates the gauge for one swap and from that you get CYM and a single Comet. CYM does generate another pip, but this pip is not a Comet if you went Swap > Comet > CYM.
@1:55 - They'll design Pictomancer rotation around color theory, but won't do something similar for Summoner so that they can use Ramuh, Shiva, and Leviathan.
NO SHOT THEY ACTUALLY UPGRADED BOOTSHINE ANIMATION That and the other early moves getting upgrades has been my wish since I started in late Shadowbringers
Honestly I'm just gonna miss the Huton buff timer and its old animation. I thought it was cool to have a Ninjutsu that was totally unique and not just AoE Suiton. Additionally, everyone complains about Armor Crush at 54, but I thought it was cool to have the gameplay be different at lower levels than higher, it makes unlocking Armor Crush feel super satisfying, and pre 54 gameplay encouraging you to delay reapplication of a buff until the last second is something that we don't really see in many classes in the game anymore. I don't get the criticism of "It felt bad" because using Huton to reapply itself was just objectively correct and the best thing to do for your damage. But the new system seems...fine. I hope that next expansion Ninja gets something else to do in between bursts as I can't really imagine the burst window getting any more busy.
maybe they will make it so that you can only cast rainbowdrip outside of combat or with the starry muse buff. not sure how else you can keep the power while not making it a spam thing
