You are correct. I may have touched on that in another video but whenever I applied to jobs the interviewer always wanted to talk about UT for a bit (even after I got my masters lol).
hi I saw you're video because I'm checking out Texas and thought about moving!! you're really hot so would u not like someone if they were half white ?? haha
That is interesting that you said everyone feels like a hot shot at the university. That was not my experience at UT at all. I rarely compared myself to others because you will always find someone better than yourself and someone worse than yourself. So just focus on doing the best for yourself. Forget comparisons.
Interestingly enough, I did feel overwhelmed at times due to the huge numbers of students at UT; but I don't think I could ever say that I felt like a small fish in a big pond. I think I was too excited about seeing all the possibilities for learning and for meeting so many interesting people that UT offered. And as anyone will tell you who went to UT, that big pond gets smaller with every year you are at UT. You make so many friends over time that you can't ever cross campus without seeing a friend. It may still be a big pond, but you no longer feel like a small fish. You feel part of something that is great!
As an honors graduate of the University of Texas (2 different degrees), the best advice I can give anyone is to work, work, work. You need a social life, yes; but your school work comes first. And while I was at the university, I had to work at outside jobs the whole time and so I had very, very little free time. And if I had some free time, I used it to rest. But do continue to go to church and make friends in your classes. You are all in this together and you can help each other. Also, I suggest taking notes by handwriting them instead of typing them on a laptop. You remember things so much better when you physically write them down. Form study groups; go to tutoring sessions; know your TAs and don't hesitate to ask them and the professor your questions during their office hours. Go to the library to study because it is almost impossible to concentrate in a dorm room or apartment. Also the university has so many wonderful libraries and museums. Avail yourself of seeing them while you are there. You can join clubs or honor societies while you are there at the university, but I think future employers will be more impressed with maintaining some level of employment while you were at the university. I do think the university experience at UT will be one of the most difficult times of your life, but it will also paradoxically be one of the best times of your life. It is wonderful to be in an environment where you can learn so much and be exposed to a large variety of cultural experiences. "HOOK EM HORNS!"
@@rizzoli7 On my faith? I've relied on my faith throughout my life to get through difficult times. Faith is not just a belief for me; it is also a guiding force in my life. It guides me morally and spiritually and my life would be very shallow without it. If you have faith, you will find that not only do you not need much else in life, you also find that possessions are more of an encumbrance than a means to achieving happiness. And a developed faith helps tremendously in any type of human relationships you may have and of course, it is the means to a closeness with the creator too. And I want to strongly add, that if you are at the university, have faith in yourself. You would not be at the University of Texas if you didn't have promise and ability. When things get rough at the university (and they will), believe in yourself!
I go to Boston University and I am currently a Sophomore, and want to transfer for next year. I don't vibe with the people and Boston and, so my social life has been unfortunate. BU's communication school is one of the best in the country and I know UT is really good too! I have never been to Texas, but I am definitely looking for that hype because there was no tailgaiting and that classic college culture at BU. I LOVED THIS VIDEO
Please please PLEASE post the HOW TO FINESSE AT UT VIDEO!!! I'm broke ASF and about to go to UT and this would help me so so SO much... Please I'm literally begining this video helped a lot and I'm sure that would help me too 😭🙏🏾
Laurence Tarquinio thx I was wondering because I wanna be in a good college tennis team so I could at least learn and then go professional after college
I really enjoyed this video, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Being an admitted student of UT Austin for fall 2020, I was wondering if you could give me some insight on the dorms available at there. Which one would you personally recommend? Thank you!
Rashi Bhalerao I am currently in Prather Dormitory and I will be there again next year! I highly recommend it if you want to save some money for a decently sized room, larger than Jester’s rooms. The only downfall is that it doesn’t have a sink in the room and it isn’t renovated. Either way it’s a great dorm and I would recommend it!
Lmao I’ll be there next year with the gangsta vibes to bring a little something something to the bland whiteness. I’m who’re too but Italian peurta rican white
How sad that you party when you lose. I hope it isn't true. And your grammar isn't correct. It should be: "When we lose, we party; when we win, we party even more." Are you sure that you are at the University of Texas?
I'm two years out of high school but I've decided to apply to UT for next Fall because it was my dream school since I was like 14. Unfortunately I worked full time throughout high school so I didn't have any extracurriculars and dropped out of all my AP classes and stuff ): My final gpa was 3.80 (3.75 unweighted) and my ACT was a 27. I was 27/145 but my ranking was weird because I graduated a year early meaning I was ranked amongst the juniors and not the seniors?? Anyways, I am currently freaking out because even though I started on my essay and short answers a couple months ago I rewrote them all last fucking minute so now I am probably going to submit my app like minutes before the deadline 😭 The worst part is I don't think I'm even going to get in, I'm applying to the RTF program and I know I don't stack up against other applicants ): Sorry for the rant
I’m from West Virginia and I’m applying to UT in a few days and also applying for their scholarship program. However, i get stress anxiety with standardized tests and my score doesn’t reflect my cumulated 3.8 gpa. I go to the one of the best schools in my state but you know Wv is Wv. I also did many activities that are “out of ordinary” for people my age, but I’m just scared that it isn’t enough. I’m ranked 47/256 in my grade (top 18%) My brother went to McCombs Business school at UT and just graduated this past May. I’m also going to apply for other scholarships offered by UT that aren’t financial need based but the out of state price is terrifying. My family doesn’t think i’d be able to handle it even if I got like a full ride (which is 99% not going to happen). Also the worst part is that the things people participate in, I never even heard about. I had no idea what DECA was until 2 days ago, which may be hard to believe, but that’s Wv for you! I don’t even know why I’m ranting. It’s 6:26 am and i’ve been up the whole night writing my short responses for the scholarship program and I’m such a nervous wreck. I’m retaking the SAT in December and sending in my scores during the decision process. If you got this far- thanks for reading <3
Abby Cokeley 아비 TBH. You should be fine. UT LOVES out of state students bc it adds to their diversity. If anything you have a higher chance than people from Texas lol. As far as ULN goes, I’m not sure how the process is now (I was in the first cohort) but definitely try to mention any plans you have for after UT (esp if it’s more school). ULN likes goal oriented people that have a plan to do well on the 40 acres. Good luck!
Arthur 94 if you have funding, Austin is good in the sense of going to a prestigious public school like UT. Weather comes and goes but UT will set you up for a good future for whatever path you may choose
Arthur 94 Currently a student there. Thinking of transferring. Not going to lie it’s a bit overrated. However, I would definitely encourage you to apply because it’s overall still a good school.
