End to end stuff!...what a game on a pitch that even cows would've struggled to walk on!...I was a teenager packed tight in the Everton end...watching one hell of a game!...two brilliant teams giving everything they had...most of them players are no longer with us today...absolute legends...Leeds finished champions and Everton 3rd...💙
What a game of football that was!...modern day footballers just wouldn't be able to play in them muddy conditions that those to brilliant teams performed on that day...I was 19yrs old in the Everton end ...Two great hard teams giving everything they've got Leeds finished champions...and Everton 3rd that season...great match!...💙
💙I was a 19yr old Evertonian packed into that end when Big Joe Royce glanced in that goal that sent us Evertonians Wild "Cheering our heads off!"..🤣😂...Brilliant!..?Leeds ended a run of 16 unbeaten games...What a great game that was...we ended up finishing 3rd that season...and CHAMPIONS the following season!...great times being an Evertonian back then ...I followed them everywhere 💙
@@frankhornby6873 Haha...U comedian....he deliberately slapped the ball down with his hand! An obvious and blatant foul,....an obvious and blatant penalty. Same old Scouse.....always cheating!
An absolutely absorbing and exhausting encounter, classic old style cup football. I'm biased but Villa and especially Mortimer, Cropley and Cowans seemed to control midfield with tenacity and neat passing, really relentless. The crucial negative was too much wasted final ball, poor end product, wild crosses from Little and Graydon. But at the final scenes, I had tears in my eyes and incredible emotions welling up in me...pride in the lads, pride in the Lions.
Only a year or so and Villa no.3 John Robson was struck down by MS aged just 28. Suffered a lingering, wasting illness for the next 25 years and passed away in 2004, aged 53. RIP John. Fond memories.
Now I remeber what football used to be like and why I rarely watch the modern game of the premiership. If this game was played in 2023 we would have had 15 VAR controversies. 30 stretchers, 15 oscars and at least 3 sending offs for theatrical impersonations of a tackle made to look like a threat on life. YES THE MODERN IS NOT WORTH WATCHING
Kendall, Ball and big Joe Royle were all sold at about 26 years old. All sold too early. Especially big Joe, He went on to score plenty more goals for Norwich, Bristol City and Man City. I wish we had him these days.
yes , I remember the Sunday afternoon highlights of the first match with old baldie , lovely Brian Moore on the big match , the most exciting thing was when one of the soldiers in the band lost his spurs somewhere on the pitch at half time
Lawson by far the worst ever goalie we ever had an absolute disaster no wonder we won fuck all in the 70s with this beaut in goal.brian little was a great little player by the way.
Apart from his two goals, he really did waste a lot of good possession, too much powder puff shooting. Lawson too easily beaten on his near post for Brian's first but Darracott should have cleared his lines for the winner and Chris Nicholl came up with a wonder strike, totally out of character for him, it was a spectacular.
The final kick in the bollocks on this disastrous night yet another final loss, was brummies singing the liverpool anthem.everton we love to lose finals f.c.
Really emotional scenes for any Villa watcher but I wish the cameras could have scanned around the whole ground at the end to see also the response from the Everton fans.
