I miss the easy days of fix-it-yourself equipment. I had a carpet shampooer that broke a belt and I had to cut the wire at the unit, take a picture, send it and a warranty form to the manufacturer who then sent a whole NEW unit 🤦🏽♂️ and saying the ole one could be discarded.. 😢sheer stupidity over a broken belt
Hi, my name is Ben. I see that the description about your video says that the Kirby vacuum you are vacuuming with is a 68 DS80. Are you 100 percent sure that Kirby vacuum cleaner in the video was made in 1968?
@Red Wolf Piping interesting. I'm not really a kirby fan. I just use any vacuum of what my mind wants to use. I'm trying to revive my (1987) Dirt devil broom vac model 701. The motor is original from 35 years ago, and it's finally letting go.
Very nice machine! I watched both videos of it. I can tell by the sound it has a newer fan in it. They were an improvement over the old aluminum fans. I once had a D80 years ago, but I sold it. It was by far the most powerful vintage Kirby I ever owned.
I found out what the issue was, the needle bearings were dry, and some how, the slide sled has no centering spring, so when I find one, I will have to tear it back down
@@redwolfpiping5701 Might try sanding the metal and then hand polishing it with Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. Use some 0000 steel wool and microfiber clothes and that will clean it up.

I saved both of them from the same lady, I was working an saw these in the customer's truck, said she was throwing them out, they were too heavy for her. What a grab!
