Ever since the Black Goo is introduced from Prometheus and now the setting in Romulus, they are rejecting the story from Aliens (1986) and after. The xenomorph could be suvived in outer space, all the things (face huggers, black goo) could be extracted or cloned from the xenomorph, even the magical black goo compound is produced and who know how many already spread to anywhere else, no to mention the black goo from David and his experiements. All of these already destroyed many things. There are no need for the people to make it so hard to get the xenomorph like the reason in Aliens, Alien3 and Alien Recurrection, their stories will not even exist.
There's so little new to see. The horror and tension Alien did better, the action and female lead Aliens did better, the hybrid (& I can't believe i'm saying this) Alien Resurrection did better, specially its death. This is like Star Wars 7.
The premise should have been that an infected spacecraft crash lands on the miner planet and the miners have to fight off the alien invasion, therefore finding a way to escape the planer. You guys are also brilliant! If Andy would have turned into a super android and started massacring the aliens like a space marine while also having underhanded motives to sneak out some alien serum - That would have been a great plot development. Then him being taken out at the end would have made more sense. This move was absolutely terrible.
By the way, if you were fans of this franchise, you would remember what Bishop said about the acid blood in Aliens. Ripley completely ignores him but Bishop says that the acidity is neutralized as soon as the Alien dies.
Yes I do remember that line, and agree that the blood is neutralised when they die (hence how Bishop was able to do an examination of the face hugger carcasses) but when the blood has been blown out of their bodies it is still potent.
Those elements like the weak, flat and forgettable characters plus the callbacks really cheapened Alien Romulus. "Get away from her you b***h" was downright insulting. Obviously we remember Ripley, Dallas, Parker, Ash, Newt, Hicks, Hudson, and Vasquez. But i also remember Johner, Call, David obviously, Weyland, Shaw, Vickers and Daniels more than any of the characters in Romulus. Disembodied is a great way to describe these actors. I did like Andy better than the rest of these lifeless actors.
Agree, they shouldn't have used that line - and that the characters were more memorable in previous films, but the Andy idea was an attempt at something new. Thanks for watching.
To me, Prometheus and Covenant are still the 3rd and 4th best film in the franchise. Aliens is still the best. Alien is obviously a close second but with Aliens, Cameron mastered 3D storytelling long before Avatar. There is nothing wrong with the science-fiction in Prometheus and Covenant. People really need to open their minds more and give those movies another chance. Im tired of hearing the contempt for those movies. Its not science facts. This is science-fiction. You might as well try and destroy The Force in star Wars based on modern science. I wish they had the Rook character to come back as a truly terrifying element and inject the pregant lady with the black goo.
You never grasped what science fiction is. Star wars is fantasy. Star trek is way more science fiction. Might be why you don't understand till this day why covenant and prometheus are so bad and an insult to the franchise. You are free to like them but if you do not acknowledge they are bad, I have little hopes for you.
To me, Aliens is the greatest sci-fi film ever made. T2 is the greatest action film ever made. They're both among the Top 3 sequels ever made, alongside The Godfather Part II. The Special Edition is the only way to watch this masterpiece. Aliens is all about second chances for Ripley, and that includes being a mother again. In hindsight, I kind of wish Sigourney Weaver won Best Actress for Aliens. Her Ellen Ripley is one of the greatest, strongest and most iconic female leads in film history.
I think this was set 40 or so years later initially, and never conflicted with that important part of the timeline. Its too thougtless in the setup. Both the prologue and end have been tacked on to write in the prequels. Otherwise it plays out similarly. I cant imagine someone that plays computer games undermining the most recognised weapon in media. It make the tone with the callbacks less egregious as well.
3/10 movie, visuals are good: characters 1/10 story 0.5/10. Great discussion guys. This showcases logically sound objective observations, and emotional responses quite well. Rain is garbage, terrible leadership, impulsive, smug, Tyler or whatever his name was cool but dumb. The android had more character than all of the others combined.
Good morning from New Zealand. I felt it was a cash grab definitely. I feel the MCU dropped the ball when they decided to no longer do Avengers movies and it really hurt the fans base not to get an Avengers movie. It is the only X factor that separated it from all the CBM out here and was true big puller to the MCu. Yes Ironman 1 and 2 did good but The Avengers smashed it and their ideas was to scrap the Avengers first?
Thanks for watching and your great comments - we agree the avengers is a great pull - Avengers Assemble really propelled the franchise all the way to end game. I also think this was set up well by the individual avengers team members own story’s with the infinity stones helping to tie it all together.
Reason #1 you can see acting/directing at its worst so we can see how much they can improve. #2 terrible writing at its finest so we can see how incoherent and incompetent the show writer is. #3 there is some rather flashy and decent fights which was overshadowed by the lack of understanding of how the Force works which leads into #4 the Force is only used for plot convenience with no practical application used which shows us that we need Disney to get show runners who understands Star Wars. #5 we had those "interesting" interviews after every episode where Leslye Weinstein had to explain the episode since the acting and directing was all over the place. Bonus thing this show accomplished was bring people together regardless of gender or color in clapping back against this travesty of a show
Oh forgot to mention the romanticization of evil, villains can have relatable back stories but saying the bad guys are good and the good guys are bad is messed up on a whole other level the manipulation representing a dangerous message
Keep doing what youre doing man. You can tell by the comments and most video reviews that dig at the show with hateful comments that they are clearly review bombing. Zero thought to their points. The show wasnt some grammy winning out of this world series. It was a decent side story of star wars. 6.5-7 out of 10. Nothing crazy. I enjoyed it and was entertaining. These guys expect it to be Game of Thrones or Braveheart when its originally for teens and kids lol like relax dudes.
I enjoyed the Acolyte. The fighting was excellent. I enjoyed the storytelling style, it was exciting to have to unfold the truth from misdirection, lousy memories. It touched on the issues I think many of us see as potential pitfalls for an organization such as the Jedi. It was fun to have my emotions pulling me to cheer on the baddies. I've been a Star Wars fan since I was 5, I am now 49. I remember when as a young adult I wasn't sure of the prequels and the difference to my nostalgia or preformed ideas. But then I grew up a bit more.
I thought it was sarcasm at first, as there aren't 5 things worth a damn in this whole "show", but being totally fair, I'm still not exactly sure what I'm even watching, the closest thing that comes to mind probably is RLM's Nerd Crew. "don't ask questions, just buy product"!! Anyhow, if you're genuinely excited about this absolute train wreck of a show, and really think anything in it was "unpredictable" (😂🤣😂), bless your hearts guys, but I really have a hard time believing any mentally sound adult with a passion for this stuff, can be so enormously out of touch.
I loved the Acolyte, it's not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It's clear I liked it more than you guys, and based on the comment section, it would have been better for your channel just to make another piling on the hate video. Thank you for not doing that. Liked. Subscribed.

I've been going one by one analyzing these characters like a science project, starting with Mae because she seems the most misunderstood. And it's actually kind of remarkable to actually think through their motivations. Time will vindicate this show, as it vindicated Hayden for the fandom. It's a decent entry in the universe. A lot of people are uncomfortable with the portrayal of the Jedi as not perfect or infallible, uncomfortable with the main having some distant similarities with their self-insert guy, and justifying their emotions by calling it bad writing.
