The place to go for rock/heavy rock/AOR/southern rock and metal. Regular reactions, reviews, album rankings for the music we all love with movie reviews thrown in
Great tune, sound wise 100% fits cellar but song flow it doesn't fit Cellar, more of an E.P. track. This track screams on Maiden influence which isn't a bad thing just does fit the flow.
Ratt by far were my favorite group out of the 80's and this certainly sounds as if it was recorded at Sound City where OOTC was recorded. The guitar tone is the same and I could hear little parts that could be related to other tracks on the album. To me it would have fit on the album or a B side. I bet my friend Kurt who was personal friends with Robbin might be able to shed some light on this track. I hope they put more unreleased material out, If they can get in a room and agree.
What would be cool is if they went back in time and were able to find and release a full show they did back in the 80's, provided the production/mix was at least up to par. Several bands do that, nothing new.
Lies Lies Lies! The solo almost sounded like Warren & the electric drums crept in there for a second. That guitar riff & hook sound NOTHING like any track on ANY RATT ALBUM EVER!!!! Even if you said that was an unused track from the first E.P. I wouldn't believe it! Don't believe everything you're told! Tracks on the 2010 Infestation album sound more like Out of the cellar than this song! I don't get a feeling of nostalgia or even recognization from this song! The only part that sounds like RATT is the vocal!!!! Play this song for 100, 80's Metal heads, WITHOUT THE VOCAL!!!! You will get more guesses of IRON MAIDEN & QUEENSRYCHE THAN ANY OTHER BAND!!!!! I GUARANTEE IT!!!!!!
Hello fellow ratt n roller. Warrens solo on this track is similar to the solo from in your direction! Sounds like Bobby's drumming and juans bass! Juans' background vocals are hard to hear in this mix. God bless all the ratt n rollers! Jesus saves sinners! My son says it doesnt sound like anything off from out of the cellar either! I like the song and stephans vocals but it does have a different sound!
This "Reach for the sky" song, doesn't sound like anything from my favorite ULTIMATE ALBUM, RATT (out of the cellar). Every song on that album is great! They all sound like they were created & recorded by the same group of musicians & producer, during the same time period. This "New" track, doesn't sound like any RATT song! I think something is "fishy" here. This is "A.I." or someone found the "isolated" studio recording of the vocal from an unused song, then created their own song around it. The guitar playing style sounds more like IRON MAIDEN. I'm calling BULLSHIT on this hoax!
I agree it's a banger, but I think it didn't make the album because it's not as danceable as the other songs. The main riffs are a little Iron Maiden-ish to fit in with their usual blues/glam style. If they had a full album of songs in this vein, they would have had a comeback for the ages IMHO.
Bands dont release good music anymore. This song sounds like 83 . Ratt had a very 80s sound early on. Its a good song but that album is perfect. Ratt were fantastic songwriters w a distinctive sound . They had some fillar but their albums were great
Saw them headline Keep it True Rising in Wurzburg last week. I've been a HUGE Midnight fan since the first day I heard Transcendence in 88, actually met him in 04 and we became friends. Having said that, Travis was absolutely amazing. He perfectly nailed the songs live.
You can tell that was recorded in the early 80s. It has that nostalgia factor for sure. Sometimes a band will go to the so called vault dust off a song and rerecord it or release it as is. Stryper has included an older songs on a newer album like My Love I'll Always Show on Murder by Pride, Marching Into Battle on No More Hell to Pay and Invitation Only on Even the Devil Believes.
I agree, it's like a being in a time machine taking you back to the Glory Days. So cool to hear a real taste of the old days. God Bless Robin. Hope he's smiling down with this release.
