I know this vid is horrendously outdated however, the flowers are a reference to undertale not a sign it takes place in the same universe, anyways cool vid I just started deltarune and am a bit confused on some of the lore and this vid helped.

0:14 Undyne's name is not a play on "undying". An "undyne" is a water elemental or water nymph from the mythology of Paracelsus. That's why she has fish-like physical features.
I would argue its a sequel because if we look at it humans and monsters together means someone broke the barrier. Also the only way sans and the gang are all still alive 100% is pacifist. Meaning, Undertales cannon ending is pacifist, After Asriel breaks the barrier humans and monsters coexist once more, Frisk resets and a bit after chris comes in and deltarune plays out.
While Parvati is my favourite (with Max second), Max definitely has the best story. Few games like this focus on a companion who's a middle-aged intellectual man, so kudos to Obsidian for that. My favourite companions are always those with which you can make a big difference in their lives, and my least favourites are those who are completely static.
I went through the vision quest with Max and Felix and it was hilarious 😂 Wonder what it would have been like with Pavarti or Nyoka as the 3rd person...
Well, I'm lying, intimidating, cheating and stealing my way through Hacyon. My character really has no high horse to sit on and talk down to anyone about such things. So I forgave Max. His skills, boni, special attack and dialogues are well worth it too.
It's so refreshing to see a review like this. I wound up here because I just wanted to learn more about the game but got sick of listening to streamers screaming and over exaggerating their reactions. It's so obnoxious.
