The James Webb Space Telescope is the successor to Hubble. It is an infrared telescope with a 6.5m mirror and a sunshade the size of a tennis court! Webb launched on December 25, 2021, and its first images and data were released on July 12, 2022.
The following is thanks to ChatGPT:- * ESTIMATED measurements of the Pillars: Height 4 to 5 light years (LY) or 25 to 31 TRILLION MILES. * Separation between the Pillars is 1 to 3 LYs or 6 to 18 TRILLION MILES. * The single bright red star and its dust shroud at the end of a small "broom stick" jutting out about ¾ down on the first Pillar is larger than the size of our entire solar system - and is trillions of miles distant from the Pillars although it looks to be part of it. * These Pillars are a very small part of the Eagle nebula which is a tiny part of our fabulous Milky Way home. Hope you found it as interesting _and amazing_ as I did 😊
I wonder if it's possible that the first galaxies formed after the big bang have already vanished by the black holes and we will never know they existed. Or the universe is a lot older than we think and the light from them hasnt made it to be visible to us yet.
A whole generation on from the Voyager launches and then the start of the Hubble telescope era, JWST is able to image objects in our own solar system as well as the dawn of the universe. I feel so privileged to witness thes marvels. Thank you.
The great paradigm shift from Hubble to Webb for me was going from a space of stars to a cosmos of galaxies. At whatever you look: there is always a dense web and rich tapestry of galaxies across billions of years of evolution as the background. Fascinating.
This seems like a small clip of a much larger presentation 🙂 if possible, may we see the entire presentation? I'm sure many of us around the world are eager to see any and all content from what is arguably one of the most important channels on RU-vid.
Thank you ~ exactly. Lots of us live for more of these images. (The equivalent of cowbell.) 😎 Overall, we'd hoped for more photos from an 'official' source vs. the YT channels posting fake JWST content.
And to think I'm impressed with the horse head nebula from my 10" dob 😂 Great video, but if possible please use an easier to understand narrator. Thick accents are not friendly to many special needs students, hard of hearing, very young, or the elderly.
