Is an eastern whit pine easy to turn into a bonsai? My property abuts the woods, and i have many species of tree saplings. Maple, Oak, Pines. There is a maple and eastern white pine i have my eye on. Should i pot them or start them right in the ground where they are?
I got into it because I just really love trees and other plants and like the process and it just blows my mind how my ten year old oak tree still fits in a pot in my front window
Style it as these Greek or tropical island trees who are near the sea and always have a lot of wind to endure, so they only have their branches and leaves in one way..constant one way Stormy wind..that would be fun .since this one had to endure a lot too .
This is quite cool but I can't help but think about how the tree exists in a perpetual state of like torture, It's skin is peeled off so that it can grow roots from where it's skin used to be. And then it gets cut and half
What size wire is this? What do u do when it cracks do you seal it up with putty or leave it? U know a good place that has good quality wire for a good price?
We are one in the same my friend! I have a takeout container filled w vermiculite and perlite with a dash of soil and i went around plucking all the acorns the squirrels forgot to dig up and have them like a scraggly thing on my bench😂
In NYC my pussywillow trees would bud once in the end of winter/ early spring, its august and they have false buds… I remember when this started happening and I always say “these poor gurls dont know what season it is” ill be doing the shuffle this year but my cuttings that were left in the yard al winter is the biggest strongest plant by far, maybe they like the cold a bit more then some others?
How old is this specimen? Subbed🔥 I love wisteria it was planted 30 years ago from seeds my grandpa broughht up from florida along with some bulbs and cuttings, all are still alive to this day and i cherish them greatly. I would love to do this as i have a ton of wisteria pods ripening and will be catching seeds soon!! Be careful the pup doesnt eat the seed pods they are poisonous for dogs!
Is there a form of bonsai where people throw out the whole “never touched by human” thing and try to make crazy naturally impossible shapes? Because I wanna try that.

Ahh, ive always wanted a trident maple. Though my other acers always struggle with windburn. Did you use b9ttom heat or a polytunnel after tye root pruning?
My mini jade is shrivelling up for some reason and I have no idea why. All I did was change the soil because it fell victim to fungus gnats. I think i shocked it, but it doesn't seem to be recovering :( Any advice for how to save it???
Search “Rootex Root Control Bags”. It’s only that brand that has the benefit we need. Ordinary fabric pots won’t do the job - the roots will grow right through
