Theres hardly any chance of tunes as good as this being written these days. Todays music couldnt hold match, nevermind a candle to this classic. Give me the 80s any day.❤

Listening to the wonderful re-runs of Laser 558 that are now online, this track appears regularly. It was in the charts as Laser's demise approached. I'll always, always have that connotation. I still remember it - on the ubiquitous Laser - drifting out of a car we walked past on a sunny Sunday in October 1985, when my father and I had been dragged to the seafront Sunday market in Folkestone by my mum. And earlier today, the DJ on the re-run from a random day in autumn 1985 said "Here's a pretty track." And he played Lavender. It may have been 39 years ago, but how right his words were, no?
As great as MARILLION are they are effectively “two hit wonders” If you asked 100 people on the street to name songs by them then most could probably only say KAYLEIGH & maybe at a push a few more might be able to say LAVENDER,hence why they are two hit wonders!
Great songwriter of lyrics,it’s a pity Marillion are pretty much a two hit wonder band! Lavender & Kayleigh are the only hits the average person on the street could name!
