The andante to this piece is just pure persistent lyricism, it just keeps on giving, the whole piece is just a gem. An excellent virtuoso piano accompaniment, I wish acoustically the cello had been a little more prominent.
Notice: Players back then didnt use stupid facial expressions as part of their “Performance”, it was natural. Now days, everyone is so emotional that they want the ugly faces during performances. Anyways,

I love the performance and the musicality, and other than some here say, to me the speed is spot on. The one thing that I dislike is that Natalia Gutman plays by heart - this is simply not done in chamber music, especially with the pianist‘s part even more difficult than the cellist‘s, going way beyond „accompaniment“. It‘s a bit disrespectful.
Наталья прекрасная виолончелистка!Особенно меня завораживает ее ансамблевое исполнение : настолько однородные штрихи с пианистом.Прекрасные ансамбли были с ее ныне покойным мужем - скрипачем (перед глазами стоят их совместные выступления с С.Т.Рихтером!)Фамилию из за тяжелого ковида сейчас не могу вспомнить.Но его одухотворенный облик стоит перед глазами!.
Was fortunate to have had a Masterclass with her approximately 3-4 yrs ago. I told her I'd try my best to improve my cello sound/playing....intimidating for sure, but a valuable experience.
Schon in Sviatoslav Richters und Oleg Kagans Zeiten bestach diese große Cellistin nicht durch eine Präsentation ihres großen instrumentalen Könnens sondern vorrangig durch ihre Einfühlsamkeit, so wie es ihr auch hier spürbar nur um das Innere dieser Bachschen Komposition geht. Das in etwa hat der von ihr ausgewiesener Mentor Richter wohl auch gemeint, als er das bekannte superlative Lob "ihrer personifizierten musikalischen Wahrheit" spendete.
