I love these outfits!! Where did you get the moving teal cart that your laptop is on? My touch screen board is far away from my desk and I would love that! First year MS RELA as well
Thanks!! The cart is from Michael’s & then I got a wood topper as well from Michael’s! I was in the same situation so it’s nice to have it to sit my computer on :)
Just found your channel and binged all of your videos so far! Omg your classroom is sooooo cute! I love it sm. I’m still in school but it’s my dream to be a teacher and I love watching your vids! Can’t wait to see how your channel grows and hope your first day goes well!
Love your one word lesson idea. Still at uni taking exams (teacher next year), but I just came across a "Secret Friend" type of activity. Basically, students draw a student's name out of a basket which they are not allowed to share with anyone and throughout the year the secret friend has to do something nice for that name (like help with something, give advice or a helpful link to an activity/resource etc). They can also decide to do the task through someone else. The important part is to never say who's secret friend one is. At the end of the year, then, the secret friends are revealed and shared. I think that that sounds like such a cute way to build respectful classroom manners. Also, I think the anonymity part can be beneficial for shy/introverted students as well, too. Not sure about the practical implication yet, but I am definitely interested in trying this one, and your one word lesson, out next year. PS: Sorry for the long comment, you definitely motivate me to be excited for the teaching job. So, thank you :)
Thank you, Trici! The secret friend idea is so cute. I feel like it could work really well with my 6th graders who are “new” to the middle school setting and probably nervous. It could also be a really nice thing to do around the holidays, refraining from making students get a gift but rather do an act of kindness for their friend. Thanks for the suggestion & thank you so much for watching! Best of luck with all your exams this year!
Love your first day plans! Especially the 1 word and goals for the school year. Will you be writing one yourself? This has inspired me to write my goals for this upcoming school year - this year will be my 10th year of teaching...I can't even believe it - it has truly flown by! I have a feeling you're going to absolutely love teaching and your students are going to love your class and you. 🙂 If you haven't done so already, I would suggest keeping a journal documenting your first year - I wrote in one and I still look back at it from time to time...it will make a beautiful keepsake! Looking forward to your future vlogs - will you be vlogging about how you will be lesson planning, plan with me, or a flip through of your planbook for this year? Or will you be planning digitally. I love using paper planners and find plan with me vlogs so fun and interesting to watch. Great vlog!!
Thank you! I will definitely be doing the 1 word as well so we can all set goals together. I just have to figure out my word ☺️. I love your journal idea, it’ll probably help keep me sane in all the craziness too! I can definitely make a “plan with me” video in the future! I have an online plan book for my school but I’m definitely a pen and paper planner and then I transfer it to that site. I appreciate all your feedback, thanks so much for hanging around! 💕
On the first day with my 6th graders, I do stations (divide the class into 4 groups.) Station 1: You and the subject I teach (for me it's French). I ask them questions about French. Why do they want to learn it? Did they travel to a French-speaking country? etc. Station 2: Can you guess? They try to guess my favorite color, my favorite subject... etc by looking around the classroom. Station 3: rules of the class (they brainstorm and try to guess the rules that are posted on the wall in French) Station 4: loaded questions: I ask them silly questions to get to know them better. I do other things with my 7th and 8th graders because I know them already, but you can do that with all grades.
Just subscribed! I am also a middle school ELA teacher. I'm in south GA and this is year 4 for me! I have an education channel too with my school counselor best friend- it's called Sassy & Educated!
Love your style! Your room looks super cozy, I love the little pops of color with the garland. And I just have to ask, where did you find your book return tray with the hands? Love it!! Wishing you a wonderful first year of teaching!-Moihelle (K-5 Art teacher in Illinois)
Thank you so much!! I was wanting the garland to add that colorful, whimsical feel. And I actually got lucky & found the book return tray in a cabinet of the room!!
@@erinteaches You're welcome! Seems like the teacher before you liked whimsical things too. Just an idea, where you have the 6, 7, and 8 area for due dates-washi tape would work great to create the chart.
Hello! Welcome in the profession :) I am a French teacher in Middle School, starting my 18th year. Middle schoolers are soooo fun! You'll have a blast. Sorry I did not recognize the city. Where do you teach?
