The Ship of Theseus comes to mind if the band has zero original members. In case of Nightwish, they still have original composer/keyboard player and the original guitarist. I personally feel that the original composer is the most important part. And the crazy part is that English is not even native language for Tuomas Holopainen but the lyrics are always worth reading with full focus.
This is Floor's masterpiece. I think if she had sung her version of the title song to the film Oblivion, the film would have been a bigger success. The lyrics of the song fit very well with the story in the film, which is actually a tragic love story with a happy ending. I think Floor's singing would have taken the film much further and perhaps made her known to an even wider audience. Her ability to express emotions vocally would probably have made many film sequences and shots in this film something extraordinary. She is one of the most extraordinary singers in the world. Absolutely unique in her vocal expression and her variability. She captures you with her voice and her presence and takes you to places you've never been before. She is truly a goddess.
Tuomas stated that while this may trick you into thinking it's a sad song, it's really a love song about celebrating someone who's lived a long and fulfilling life (instead of mourning them). Floor stated this one choked her up in rehearsals and during the recording. I don't know if he stated someone in particular was in mind, but I believe his father past and I know Floor's discussed her mom's on-going health battles, so I'm sure it was personal for both of them... not just a made-up storyline.

The reason: she absolutely is the best singer on this planet, but besides of that her performance, stage presence and sincerely are captivating. Especially her sincerety. No playing around here. She means what she brings. She is a sensitive sweetheart and it shows. Passed away loved ones.....doesn't that hits us all like a brick? Yes, indeed, she lets you feel human. Absolutely amazing woman. And Tuomas, sorry I did not mention you earlier. Incredibly how you composed this beauty of a song, so tailormade to Floor and Troy. Sorry I was very late to the livestream but it was special to watch it again and read the chat. Loved your reaction and all the beautiful thoughts that you shared. Love these livestreams when I can make it. Final song from the final album of the trilogy. It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. Loads of beautiful imagery in the lyrics of seeing the end, of reminding those we love that we will always be present, of lamenting the unfinished things we leave behind (as is always the case), and then walking "to the trees". Since Tuomas is famous for writing lyrics for multiple interpretations I could also see this song where the narrator is death personified, much like the way the lyrics in Music were. A third way I see it is that the lyrics aren't necessarily about a person but are instead a metaphor for humanity and our walk through the eons of our existence which would fit well with the themes of the album trilogy. A number of references to Auri and other Nightwish songs. "I am in the light and flood" and " I am in the four winds" IMO are shout outs to the Auri songs Light and Flood and The Name of the Wind, very beautiful instrumental that have a similar feel. For me the line "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me Decades in the Sun vibes and of course "To the meadows I go" is tapping into the same symbolism and meaning as Meadows of Heaven. Heartachingly beautiful song and a perfect bookend to the album and trilogy. A beautiful tribute to Tuomas's father and all that are the lantern light for our journey through life. I agree with Tuomas, if we have lived a life of joy and meaning then we shouldn't be sad at the end but celebrate a life well lived. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass. I don't think you have heard any Auri on your channel yet. Side project of Tuomas, Troy and Tuomas's wife Johanna Kurkela. Beautiful atmospheric folky music. Very similar to Lanternlight. Some of my favorites are Desert Flower, The Space Between, and The Valley. I think they just finished recording their third Auri album and are planning a small Auri tour in 2025.

Being an emotional person, this song makes me cry just from the first chord. The first time I heard this song was at an official listening party on Sept. 19th (they had several across the U.S.), and it took all of my willpower to not start sobbing in the middle of the record store. I managed to mostly hold it in, but when I listened to it on headphones later, the waterworks flowed freely. Such a beautiful song, definitely my favorite track on the album. One of the songs that will make me cry every time I hear it. ❤
If I were given the chance to sing The Star Spangled Banner at a professional baseball game, and I had a year to prepare, can you help to prepare me for that? I'm sure you can. How do I get started? The only singing experience I have is singing to my favorite songs on the radio when I'm driving my car. I'm not even sure how to find my voice.
