I moved out of Bay City in 1975. I used to live on Hidden Road right on the Kalkawlin river.. that was fun being able to take the boat out to the bay.. I got it honestly say I don’t miss it though… there is so much more in this world trust me.. Bay City is a fantastic place to be FROM….
I live in Bay City now I like it. And there are a ton of churches. And the north part of Bay City is different. Bay City motors is still there but I don't see people going in there anymore.
A few years ago I took a photography class from the Reeds. It was held in the upstairs of the carrage house of the Carrter Mansion. You should check out Dr Reemer's office. It's like a museum. ( He's my Dr)
You are a funny man . I think sometimes your guests don’t catch the quips . I laugh all the way to the end . Very excellent mood changer if you’re not feeling like smiling . You will while watching Tom 😂
My family has been eating Loui’s before he even opened in Hazel Park. Back in the day when he was at the original Shield’s on McNichols. His Uncle Jimmy was the Matre’d there and followed him to Loui’s. Love the pizza, the antipasto, Loui’s Special and the capaletti soup. Yes we had numerous bottles hanging as well.
The main thing of the sauce if you want to call it that was just virgin olive oil and oregano. The bread helps a lot to the taste to be right. However, I can normally get Jersey Mike's to get somewhat close. The catch was as far as the meats go were cut there often that day same goes for the vegetables. The Onions were cut which man they would make you cry. So if you want to make one. You get yourself an Italian bread one not to hard and not to soft. Then you put down your meat about a hand full with whatever cheese is called for. The next part is your lettus, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. Once you have them neatly stacked you put down the oil basically baptizing it. Then you put the oregano down at lost of it. He did later on add an option to put salt on it as well to help really pull out the flavor. Then you put the top of the bread on. The sandwich is likely to tall to eat still so the next part helps with that. When wrapping up the sandwich you want to press down just a little to compact it which the bread being almost spongy helped out a lot.
St. Laurent used to have hardwood floors like the Mill End store. It used to be a lumberjack tavern and had two trap doors for guys to escape down into an underground tunnel system when they needed an escape. Those new owners covered up the trap doors with linoleum.
We had a potential ghost experience at the Cartier Mansion. ….. We were staying in the suite that you featured with the needle shower so my husband could attend Todd and Brad Reed’s photography workshop. Which, By the way, we highly recommend! They are awesome! I was staying at the Cartier Mansion with our 3 year old daughter while my husband was out photographing beautiful Ludington. There was an eerie feeling in the bathroom there, but I can’t say that I witnessed anything myself. But after we got home, my daughter mentioned that she saw a white floating head that turned to look at her while she was in the bathroom. Now, she was only 3 years old, but I’m not sure where she would’ve picked up that image, unless she saw it herself. She’s almost 12 now, and I asked if she remembered seeing anything in that bathroom (featured on this video) and she said she saw a white floating head. This time she acted out how it turned to look at her. We haven’t talked about that incident for 9 years, yet she still remembers… But we love Ludington. We love the Cartier Mansion , and we would totally stay in that same room again.
A great pizza place. Louis was Buddy’s cook back in the 50-60’s and made Buddy’s famous. His place in HP has been the go to since 1977 and is the original Detroit style pizza 👌
