I throw all my Corms back into the garden every July when I harvest my garlic + usually find some rounds that have developed from those corms the following year. I plant my cloves + rounds in November for harvest the following summer. I’m gonna try planting the lil bulbil seeds next year + see how many rounds I get !

I planted corms earlier today, but hadn't come across your video yet. What was the success rate? I clipped along the one edge of corms to weaken the shell but not expose the soft interior. I soaked them overnight in a thick slurry that I made from worm castings and rain water. And then this morning I planted them directly in the ground into a new bed. My intention is to have them as a companion plant intercropped between brassicas that I'll plant in the next few weeks. I will plant my biggest cloves next weekend. p.s. My soil type is sand, and it is amended with composted cattle manure & composted chicken manure. I used a plant spacing of about 6 inches in the row I decided to plant today as it will rain today and again next weekend.

What are you saying that sounds like sea salt??

I think he is saying Seasol, which is a seaweed concentrate. You can find it online. Still no idea whether this technique really works!

Do you have experience with freezing elephant garlic corms? Can you explain that a bit more? Freeze immediately after harvesting or when - How long in the freezer ( or do you mean refrigerator? ) When to plant in the ground? How deep? You would be doing a great favor to many readers! Thank you very much for your response! Greetings from Belgium

I planted them in soft loam soil, no compost, a few came up the first year. The rest came up 2nd & 3rd year, by the second year the annual weeds covered the bed, but did harm the corms. I have harvest all of them now. Some times it take 5 years/60 months for all of them to grow, the make cloves.

I’ve tried many ways to grow elephant garlic corms, yours being one of them. None of them worked. What good is the video without showing the results. It’s highly unlikely that your method worked. Ive seen similar videos but none ever showed any results. One year I planted 300 corms and not one of them germinated.

Have you found a way to get them to germinate yet? What about skimming the outer shell off after soaking for a week?
