he was seriously underrated if compared to the recognition that Maldini and Nesta have. i was so happy for him in 2006, he absolutely deserves the honor. i think Maldini's performance in Italy's national team was just average, he always play better for his club than the national team. Nesta always broke his leg during national tournaments and absent from big matches. Out of the three, only Cannavaro had the mentality and health to give 110% for the national team
Look at the players he’s defending. Adriano, Zidane, Henry, Klose. These guys are monsters infront of goal and he made defending against them look easy when its not even close.
