so many videos on youtube installing ubuntu on virtualbox make it look so easy. i have a fairly robust home computer (16gb, 6 core, windows 11 home) and it took me two days of getting stuck. restarting. reconfiguring the virtualbox in as many different ways as google searches will tell me and still. I get to the login page and it freezes again. for the umpteenth time.

I know this videos a year old but was just wondering if anybody knows why when I open the virtualbox application it doesn't start. If I go to the task manager it shows 2 instances of it running but nothing ever opens. I have tried reinstalling it as well

I managed to install on a Linux host, pretty much the same steps but with a few tweaks on the commands, the only issue I faced is that the mouse and keyboard became unresponsive when I enabled USB 3.0 but it worked fine if I switched to 2.0. Thank you very much for this tutorial.

What did it for me was simply turning on 3d acceleration on display settings, allocating vram to 64 mb and then inside ubuntu I was finally able to set res to 4k. The method in the vid didn't work and wouldn't let me log in. Just a heads up if anyone wants to set the resolution to 4k.

The OS ran even worse after installing the VMware tools. i gave the thing 8 gigs of ram and 4 cores

i hate kali linux and all vm every time i want to make a vm it just have error like faild to create vh disk dude i try kali linux app in microsoft and it faild i tryed virtualbox and its broken i can't use it cuz i just freezes and i can't install vmware cuz i can't to connect to the server and here i m in hyper-v and it has an error ???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
