Clever! I just bought one second hand, and was told it worked good, but there's no pusher inside. 🤨 Didn't notice till I got home. Not happy, but I guess I can fix it this way. Thanks!
Just bought one as a replacement to my 20-something year old Stihl. It's going to take a little mental gear-changing to get used to the trimmer head turning in the opposite direction. But so far, I really like it! I think it's the perfect balance of cost where you get a good machine without having to overspend. And don't you just HATE those "smart" gas cans like you're using?
@@1funcar those gas cans suck 🤣. Ended up replacing it with an old style regular ol pour spout with a breather hole drilled in the other side. It's like it was indended lol.
@@tribalwind yep done that before lol same deal there but wanted to show this with common hand tools in case someone doesn't have a drill. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have a speed feed head on my new echo trimmer. I am trying to reload the string, but I can't turn the head so that the arrows line up with the holes.. Do you have any ideas as to what may be happening? Thanks.
@@mnoble0902 grab the rear part of the head where it connects to the shaft to hold it in place so that part doesn't rotate then rotate the outside shell part to the right and it should turn. If it doesn't turn there might be some grass or dirt jammed up in there. There's a couple of plastic tabs on opposite sides of the top of the head you can squeeze those and the head will pop off to disassemble, try to clean that out blow it out with some air and remove any debris. Reassemble it and see if it turns. Hope this helps, good luck!
@@DIYDad1 Thank you for your response. I took the head apart and looked for any debris. It was completely clear and the head still won't turn. I've seen lots of videos, including yours, and it doesn't seem like it should be this difficult. Perhaps mine is defective?
@@mnoble0902 hard to say but it's possible there might be something wrong. It might be really stiff at first, not sure if there's something you can use to grip it for more leverage or something maybe it just needs a good extra oomph to get it mowing lol not sure besides that, could just be the thing is seized up or bad.
@@DIYDad1 Thank you. I'll see if I can find something to grip it with. It's frustrating because the trimmer (PAS-225) is new. While using it yesterday, something happened to the head and the string stopped coming out.
@@mnoble0902 it definitely sounds like you might have a bad head on there sometimes stuff like that gets past qc, it's a shame because that's such a nice trimmer to begin with but it happens from time to time it should be under warranty if it's new yet luckily. Try revving it up about half throttle and give the ehad a few good hits on concrete or stone or something see if you can get the line to advance it should come out when you bump the head on the ground if it doesn't feed it's probably not working properly
I actually do t turn off my pump and open it while it’s running and no water spills out at all. You can also flip those hats over and push it in the hole in.
Nice looking trimmer, but I'll be staying with my Echo srm225. Milwaukee makes great power tools but IMHO battery doesn't come close to gas equipment. Battery equipment is ridiculously expensive!! I've tried a battery blower and absolutely hated it. I'll never give up my Echo gas trimmer and blower. Nice review tho. Glad to see you posting.
@@garyalensr echo ftw I absolutely love my srm225 nothing comes close. This is great for smaller jobs as I mentioned, just quick trims. If you're going full power on the higher speed setting I burned through an 8 ah battery in like 12 minutes. Respectable for battery but if you're not going absolutely ham on the trimmer at full power it lasts a while. Still can't touch gas for a quick fill up and keep on goin though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That's a heck of a lot of land to clear lol honestly though, throw a brush cutter head on one of them for the thicker stuff and keep the string line head on the other one for the lighter grass. Echo makes a few models with larger displacement engines as well, more for commercial use and heavy duty use. The srm225 here is 21.2 cc engine. Something like a 2620 will have a 25.4cc engine and give you more torque for tougher jobs they cost almost twice as much as this one though.
I love this idea! I'm getting my first pool finally 🙌soon. Do you put a cover under it too? Or just the mats? I wonder how many I would need for a 16x48 pool. I looked at them on Tracker Supply but they are expensive 😮
You can just throw a simple tarp under it to keep it clean if you're going to be taking it down every fall before winter but if you clear the area properly first there's really no need.
I don't think it's labeled for fleas specifically but you can check the domyown website search for flea control from their website. They might have a specialized product.
Correct, just set all the way to min setting, it just turns up or down the level of suction from the siphon tube that's all it does really. And if the solution tank is completely empty it's just going to suck in a tiny bit of air, no big deal at all.
For those building a more recent model that doesn’t have any “screws” to push in at the top, I found that removing three legs and pushing the connecting arms straight downward (not out) until they meet works. Took us an hour to figure it out and we were pissed when it just slipped in.
Lol isn't that something you're scratching your head forever then light bulb and you figure it out. 🤣 Yep been there many times. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the other models, thanks for watching and commenting!
@@Striperman haha love your out of the box thinking lol. Been good man, lot of changes in my life lately, divorce is finalized now, no lawn to take care of at the moment but things are looking up finally! Hope you're doin well too!
Yeah, cause I don’t know what’s happening this year. I know it’s still kind of early in the season, but it’s really yellow. I’ve been using Scotts, but it just doesn’t seem to be doing any good
@@FORDTECH313 So this stuff has a little bit of iron and some other micro nutrients in it which helps with the color, I don't believe the Scotts has any iron in it, the Scott's is pretty basic it does the job with the basic macro ingredients that your lawn needs but not much beyond that other than to push growth. There could be a soil issue too if your color isn't where you want it to be, overly acidic or too alkaline soil will leach color and cause the yellowing. You could look for an organic fertilizer that is slow release and has iron in it, adding some organic matter to your soil as well which could help. I like Milorganite but the cost of that has gone up quite a bit in recent years sadly, but that stuff has iron which really helps with color, check the label on products you buy and see if it has iron as an ingredient that will go a LONG way to helping give your grass a nice deep dark green color. Either a liquid iron spray or a graunular iron product like Ironite that you can water in. Hope this helps!
Thanks! You mention a previous video that showed removing the wheel, etc. Can you link that? I've had a 3oz tube of Permatex Valve Grinding Compound for maybe 10 years, just not gotten around to researching how to utilize it to sharpen my Craftsman push mower, which I've had for maybe 20 years. I've messed with sharpening the blades with small sharpening stones, haven't adjusted the blades against the cutting blade. The mower works, kind of, but is a lot of work! It's time to do the job right!
I have had a 225 since1988. I put a saw blade on it from day one. I use it to keep the brush trimmed back from my driveway and small nuisance trees. Goes thru them like crap thru a goose. Never rebuilt.
My plastic hose has been chewed up by my dog's & run over a few times & still works, + my vacuum is 20+ yrs old & even rip the electrical cord in half getting caught around the vehicle & backing out 🤦 but still kicking strong AF 💪 my vacuum is so old it doesn't even have the inlet in the tub it's in the top half of the vacuum going into the lid. So I probably need an upgrade 😂
This will repel pollinators like bees and such, I haven't had had too large of a bee population in this entire town to be honest so it's not a huge concern where I live, however you can also be a little more selective with where you spray this and skip over plants you care about. Just spray in your most common outdoor living areas like around decks and patios and a good 3 foot radius around those areas and that alone will be a HUGE improvement with mosquitoes just with that.
I would wait til after rain. Of you apply it too soon before a rain it could wash away reducing the amount of time that the chemical is active for. It will still be there in the soil and on plants but greatly diluted. Best to wait til after a rain and it will dry and stay there for longer. Thanks for watching!
I do two passes but I cut the application in half so I'm not over applying. I'll apply in a grid pattern, so for example the first pass I'll go in an East-west back and forth and then second pass I'll do a North-South so everything gets even application but just set the spreader lower then it will not be applied at double rate. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
