Just like all remakes these days... COMPLETELY MISSES THE MARK! Tim Curry's rendition is pure gold(best rendition)... soulful, powerful yet gentle/reflective...should have won an Oscar! This is rushed, lacking depth/meaning/emotion...just delivering words.
I don't like the way this was directed - it feels awkward and not as emotional as it should be. They're clearly trying to make it too comedic, poking fun at Frank's melodramaticness, but in doing so they sacrifice how sad the song and the whole scene really is. BUT, Laverne Cox's singing is absolutely beautiful, with her haunting vibrato.
