Just a question, what will make the colours pop more? Give the painting more vibrancy if I want to do abstract painting and not realism? Do i use complementary base or analogue colour? Thank you !
I am 46 and have been using oils since I was 13. I know the theory of using complementary bases, analogous bases, etc. Normally I would use a complementary base and never the same colors as the subject (it would just be too hard on the eyes!) but for some reason I love the one you did with the bright fiery base! It's the bright fiery light that you got to poke through that did it for me. Maybe I'll try doing complementary for the subject itself, but if I plan on doing any brightly lit areas I'll use some colors that are fiery like the light I'll use in those areas! Ooooh! This is gonna be fun!
Are you a tetrachromat? I marvel at how you see the world in such lovely colours. I could not see the different shades in your reference photos, you have such a trained eye! thank you for your content, i am a big fan. i found you on domestika. Let us know if there is any sort of practise we can do to see the subtle shades of colour as you see it xo
So excited to learn this from you❤. But, i have a question. Can you please tell me what other paint medium is best for this type of painting? Can I use acrylic?
Your colours lay on so easily, and very flat. Do you use a decent amount of medium? I take it you gesso and sand down your surfaces, or do you buy ultra smooth canvases?
I definitely like the newer version better. I am from a traditional oil painting background. In recent years I've been "painting" in Photoshop but I don't really like that digital look. I came across your videos because I was looking for tutorials on ArtRage to get a more painterly look while painting digitally. I also want to get my art to be more colorful, so I like seeing how you make neutrals more vibrant. Beautiful stuff!
If you enjoy showing brush marks in your final painting style I guess a smooth wood panel would be less necessary-right? If you can afford purchasing smooth boards, paper or canvas’ which are the easiest and best to use?
Just got to paint 100 paintings and experiment what types of surface you like the most. I prefer smooth surface and like my brush marks to show but sometimes the paint slides around it won't grab. A more toothy surface would probably be better if you like thick brush strokes. But it's a preference thing. I did a thick palette knife painting on a smooth canvas
Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much! I had always hated working from pictures, but your explanations and the way you go about using your reference photo makes SO MUCH sense! 😍😍😍
Just found your channel… Thanks for the video. I’ll be checking out more! Only thing I would like to say is perhaps if you would talk a little slower it would be easier to understand.😊❤
Estaría bien aplicar un sellador para madera antes en toda la pieza, para evitar la humedad, para evitar hongos y que se pandee con el tiempo, más en zonas húmedas
