Really enjoyed this. I've taken an annual winter hiking vacation to this area for the last decade, but I didn't get to go this year. So great to see the trail I love so much with snow on the ground and those gorgeous blue mountains in the background. Can't wait to hit that trail again!
Very nice I made my own 20’ hammock and realized I don’t have any trees that will work for it but I do have a utility pole and fence post about 35’ away. This is gonna be sweet
Wait a feiggin second here....u tellin me its as simple as 2 poles anda tuff a$$ stake....im returnin the one i just ordered and makein me one like this. Sweet doin bud.glad i found ya yer vid.thanks fer makein it so dagum simple......
I tried this in my 4runner and damaged the headliner using the exact same method the weight/pressure from the strap being pulled inward caused wrinkles/crushing to the headliner and bent the pinch weld under the gasket for the rear cargo hatch. This is a really great idea but not for every vehicle. If there was a suitable bolt by the visors and rear interior frame then it would be perfekt!
Some possible reasons for choosing a hammock even if the vehicle seats fold flat: 1) Cost. The hammock setup can be cheaper than a camping setup if purchasing from scratch. 2) Compactness. The hammock and straps may take up less space when stored than a car camping setup. 3) Comfort. People that enjoy hammock sleeping may prefer it to a flat surface (bed/cot/ground mattress). 4) Levelling. A hammock doesn't require the vehicle to be parked on level ground. 5) Speed of setup/takedown. This is especially true if the anchor points remain in place. The main reason I can think of not to hang the hammock in the vehicle is during more extended trips. It may be more useful to have a car camping setup inside with the remainder of the space for storage (bags, tubs, fridge, etc). A hammock might require shifting that gear around, or even storing it outside/on the roof, if it's an extended trip.
I have been on the fence about a snakeskin. Like the idea but wasnt sure I would actually like it in the field. Also didnt want to spend the money so was toying with the idea of making one, but that is a lot of fabric and sewing to end up not liking it. So I LOVE this idea as it lets me TEST the idea of using a snake skin without a lot of fuss and money! Brilliant!
I tried to glue a preformed fabric border, instead of the duck tape, but it was too difficult. So I just skipped the border and the loofah alone worked perfectly! Thanks for the inspiration!
