I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up and was already in the process of getting my surgery I wasn’t obese that’s why I backed up on my surgery day i was really young and I was this close to getting into the process I did the process of bariatric surgery like 3 times I even did the classes, the testing and etc, but till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery ‘ I did my research about bariatric surgery, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😌

It can, and does happen! I had a SADI-S and in 11 months have lost 240lbs, and still losing. If my loose skin were removed Id be in the 147ish, (im 6'1") which means I'm on the verge of being underweight. My bariatric surgeon is concerned that I may be malnourished also as I look emaciated. I eat 1500+ cals a day, high carb (cant do high fat because I dont tolerate it). I have tried everything to stop the weight loss, even eating junk food for a week (fast food, high fat, etc and felt terrible doing it) but still lost 5lbs the week I did it. My doctor has already mentioned that if my labs are not good then I'll need medical nutrition therapy through an NG tube. People can lose too much weight! Don't lie to your patients just to see another surgery! You should strive to accurately answer these questions and make your patients well informed.

Learning the process dietician allowing cottage cheese and yogurt and scrambled eggs almost 2 weeks out from gastric sleeve surgery. Small bites chew well and dont forget to keep fluids away 30 min. Before and after. I have a tendency to learn the hard way😢.

I disagree. I don't think it is rare at all. In fact, I think it is the norm to gain it back. I had the sleeve 4 years ago and I lost all my weight and am now slender. I know numerous people in real life and online that either never lost it all in the first place or lost it and gained it back. I'm an anomaly. When I met with my bariatric dietician, I asked her last time about what percentage of the clients she sees are like me and actually a normal weight and have kept the weight off. She said 30% which coincidentally is the same exact number quoted by one of my plant based doctors that I follow. That means the majority fail. I give very little credit to the bariatric surgery for my weight loss because I had gone from obese to slender 3 times on my own prior to the surgery. I just could never keep it off. The difference is this time, I really immersed myself into fitness and health and I am vegan as well as I exercise 1-3 hours per day. It's actually been relatively easy for me to keep the weight off. I gave up sugar, oil, salt, caffiene, alcohol and I eat very well. I have a ton of energy. Frankly, I wouldn't recommend bariatric surgery for most because I've seen what happens afterwards and it has to be devastating to go through that and still end up obese. There's a reason they say it's just a tool.

Everything I have seen says the pouch can't be stretched out! I just had my VSG surgery in December. I know if you eat high caloric food items, that can make you gain weight, but I didn't know the pouch could be stretched out. I thought the part that could stretch, along with the hunger hormone parts, were removed during surgery.

i've heard of some who claim this. "can you get too skinny after gastric sleeve"? the question wasn't answered. you answered with "that's not the question i get asked", not if a patient can get too skinny.
@SirLANcel0t
@SirLANcel0t 5 месяцев назад
I think what he was trying to say with that, that you can't get too skinny. And people usually ask him if they can lose more weight, which pretty much tells you people usually do not get too skinny.

Does Medicaid pay for bariatric surgery. I'm over the BMI at 40.1. also I do lumber stenosis and I'm inconsistent. Is it best to have bariatric surgery or have back surgery first? Please Help!
@lucyinthesky4682
@lucyinthesky4682 7 месяцев назад
Usually easier to get approved for bariatric surgery than back surgery. I had to have a Nissen fundoplication for severe GERD and it requires some of the diet restrictions of gastric bypass and it was really hard. I don't eat processed sugar or fast food. Maybe a rare cheeseburger now and again so I wasn't worried about craving food. However the continued liquid died for weeks was incredibly hard. I didn't cry but I was incredibly close. My cousin just had gastric bypass and regrets it because of the pain and she has to take injections to prevent blood clots. If you have straight Medicaid and not another insurance you may get back surgery easily. Usually it's a battle. You'd be better off losing weight and getting back surgery to prevent further issues. I'm a lawyer but I also do pro bono work for people on legal aid so I've learned a lot about medical insurance. I'm telling you all this just so you do all the research. This guy is great but a lot of doctors push for you to have surgery cause it's a great money maker. The doctors taking Medicaid are looking for you to meet a requirement and then you have surgery. It's safer now than before but SO many people have it now.

@lucyinthesky4682
@lucyinthesky4682 7 месяцев назад
It's not about small amounts, it's about calories and exercise. You can eat a pint of ice cream 6 times of day and that's 6000 calories. Good addiction is just like any addiction. It's a lifestyle change. You should seek therapy. I'm being serious. My cousin just had surgery, and I suffer from anorexia. Don't listen to people talking about shortcuts, it's just that you weren't prepared. And so many programs don't properly prepare people. This is for life, not just to drop initially.

Please look up Dr. Matthew Weiner here on RU-vid. He discusses this often. Weight regain is real with the sleeve, even with "perfect" diets. Nowadays meds are paired with sleeves (you'll have to take it forever) to maintain weight loss. Bypass usually has more success with weight loss maintenance.

Hello doctor, does the sleep heart rate dip to a range of 40-50 beats per minute after gastric sleeve? is this indicator for bradycardia? In the resting state, heart beat is around 55-60 and during workout, it touches 140 beats and it comes down when rested for few mins
