Everything looks so crispy out there by Gardiner. It's pretty wild just a few miles downstream there's a green valley full of spring creeks and life. Also... Was that a cuttie? Looks kinda... mixed... and plain. There's no orange under the throat, no coloration on the gill plate, but the spots do congregate towards the back and go past the lateral line. Weird fish.
This looks so damn cool i just started getting into fish originally starting with aquariums but as im starting to get tired of the restaurant industry and growing in passion for fish so ive been looking into what it would be like before i make a decision since i live nowhere near significant water
I just looked up “fish hatchery living”. My dad worked for fish n wildlife for 20+ years, meaning I lived in hatchery homes my whole life. I don’t know of anyone else who’s lived ON station at hatcheries. He used to take me to see the baby fish eggs/the fry in the basins at night. Best memories of riding my bikes up & down around the fish ponds. 😄bye I’m done reminiscing
Kinda funny, I used to work at the company who builds the transports on that second truck used to deliver them to hatcheries all over the place and after bullshitting with managers I’m looking to work at a hatchery now 😂
Sooo many RU-vid videos at your disposal to learn more about the wonderful sport of flyfishing... however, nothing steepens the learning curve more than hiring a guide for a full day wading trip on your favorite stream. Best of luck mate!
Thanks Gary, thankfully I have come a long way since this video and I'm learning more every time I go out. A guided trip would be a great experience though. Tight lines mate!
What fun! Oh to be young again! You guys have the right idea......You guys should come to Alaska if you want big fish! Problem is we've got some big bears as well!
@@JamieNicho Jamie, please let me know when you are planning to come up. I have some young fisher dudes renting our lower floor duplex in Homer. They can tell you where to go, what to use, etc. They are mostly fly fishermen. Actually, this weekend they are going to Cooper landing (Kenai River straight down from Kenai Lake) They also went last weekend and have some great pics of huge rainbow's, coho's and the like. Hardcore fisher dudes no doubt! They are having a blast and with NO crowds! Fun vid you have there! For the most part you really don't have to worry too much about the bears except when there are big crowds of people. Then, they can get very irritated with people they deem are a threat to their food supply. Talk to you later!
I've just started surfing and got my own bord but not bena out on my own yet finking of going to caswell two Morow Wales are forecasted to be 1ft shod I go?
Great video. I share some of the same thoughts about surfing growing up in Southern California. Throw in a few string of injuries and ya most of the time I’m like iffy on the whole thing. But I always keep coming back, sometimes score and most of Time feel shitty. It’s like a weird drug addiction I keep fiending over
It's a love hate relationship for sure. I was surfing a lot lately until I broke my collar bone about a month ago so I get a few months of again lol. Have fun out there bro!
@@Nathanrudsell Whenever you are dealing with a live product there are challenges. For example hatchery raised fish are prone to diseases, mechanical issues such as pumps or generators breaking down etc.
Indeed they are. This was before I was educated properly on local species. There seems to be a lot of misinformation spread around. It is as though the state doesn't make a profit from them like salmon and walleye so they make up lies about what is good and bad.
@@JamieNicho Yeah its crazy what you hear people say about them. Such a cool fish though. I do not think it's fully the state game agency's problem, though the issue could use much more clarity. Washington and Oregon waged an all out war on them because they see lots of young salmonid mortality in the Columbia River, which has multiple dams and slow moving water. The young salmon and steelhead are sitting ducks for predators. Then people just assume that the war on pike minnow should just apply to every body of water. People also tend to think that any by catch while salmon or steelhead fishing is trash. Whitefish, pike minnow, suckers... all cool fish, and native. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Dont drink wine and youtube.
Nice video! Any recommendations for spots I can go to catch a cutthroat near Gardiner? I’m kinda new to big rivers, any smaller narrower rivers near there?
Anywhere on the Yellowstone near Gardiner should produce cutthroat. Walk the river look for holes and current seams and I'm sure you will pick something up. Good luck!
A yacht can be defined as a small to medium sized sailING boat. More recently motor launches have been called yachts, normally preceded by the word motor to define. I love the confidence and certainty that the young lady delivers her incorrect verdict with.
Do you see a lot of hatchery workers with a bachelors in biology? I’m almost done with mine and interested in this field after graduation, but I don’t have much experience in this portion of biology
