I'm known as JorgenS and i'm a swedish recordcollector from Sundsvall, Sweden. I'm a member of RU-vids Vinyl Community and I show records and record digging and talk music and collecting on this channel. Hopefully you will find suggestions of some great music to search for! The music that i mostly show here is: - Synthpop & Electronic - 70s - 80s - 90s - Soul - Classic jazz (Big Band, Swing, Bop, Cool)
I have also a blog in swedish about records called Stafrins Skivguide (skivguide.blogspot.se) plus a webpage in swedish about the 80s called Retrogalaxen (www.retrogalaxen.se).
Lol, a Swedish version of "Girl from Ipanema" and your take on it was my favorite part of this video. Thank you for sharing this. Your surroundings look so beautiful. Take care, Jorgen.

There are more than one swedish version of "Girl from Ipanema". I have heard a version with even worse lyrics than this. :) Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Interesting seeing some of the Swedish artists. That Original Dixieland Jazz Band single was a nice find. Picture sleeve and all. Grabbing any Stan Ridgway or Dexy's stuff is a no brainer. The song "Camouflage" is good if you like the Rambo/Hero storyline lyrics. He is a talented songwriter. I remember Jody Watley's first album selling hugely at the record shop. We sold a slew of the cassettes and CD's. I don't remember if it was released on vinyl. Way to go brother J. I know what artists or the kinds of music that you dig. It is fun seeing what you are going to gran next~ Rob/Boston

Hi Brother R, this is the only Stan Ridgeway-stuff i have so far. I have a lot of Jody Whatley-albums, Shalamar- and solo-albums combined. The version that i have of her debutalbum is on vinyl. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Hej, Jörgen! I have one recording of Viktor Borge's live performance on VHS. It's hilarious! 😂 Greater than great pianist and hell of a showman. BURNING HEART is one of the best songs ever for me! I collect BANANARAMA singles whenever I come across one that I don't have. They released quite a few singles! Sommaren är kort, 😔 Jarkko/MyVinylBar
I recently saw a clip of him terrifying an opera singer, yet I'm sure it was staged. He was great.

Hi Jarkko, i have one album by him, but it would be fun to have a video with him. Though i recommend his book "Musikomik" (My favorite intermissions in english), a classical dictionary with music history written in a really funny way! Though i prefer Bananarama with Stock Aitken Waterman i try to buy singles with them when i see them for the right price. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
glad you got out in the sun ..and found yourself some bargoons...enjoy the music..

It was fun to be able to do this sunny video. It might be the last outdoor-video of the year, at least for the summer. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
No, but you could. <Ian imagines Jorgen floating some disks live in his nice, calm and inimitable way. (Third person grammar purposely used).> Kind regards, Ian

@@kafkaian If i would to be playing records on the net i think i'd rather do it in a podcast or on Mixcloud since i've been doing radio broadcasting in the past.
Summer Breeze is a great track! And I also enjoyed the DM story. 👍
Месяц назад
Hej Martin, Summer Breeze is indeed a classic. There are a lot of great DM stories, many of them collected in Steve Marleys awesome biography of them. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Cool boxes. That Depeche Mode looks amazing. I have a copy of Chess on vinyl, but I think I have only listened to it once.
Месяц назад
The Depeche-album is indeed a classic! I have Chess both in this original version and in a concert version in swedish. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Plenty of good beach space there Jorgen. Are you anywhere near Kaseberga or Mölle? There is supposed to be some good surfing there. What a nice place full of real relaxation brother J. Thanks for the walking tour~ Rob/Boston
Месяц назад
Hi Brother R, Both Kaseberga and Mölle is in the south part of Sweden, close to Denmark, so i'm pretty far from there. This was indeed a very relaxing and enjoyable trip. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
You always seem to find the perfect jazz artists to fill your tastes Jorgen. <> The band Tavares was named after Feliciano Tavares who grew up a few miles from me. You never and I mean never disappoint brother J. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The CD titles as well~ Rob/Boston
Месяц назад
Hi Brother R, cool that the man who named Tavares lived nearby. The Tavares album was a really great one indeed. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
I've been seeing that Eagles Live album for decades, but never really been interested since I already own "Hell Freezes Over." Maybe I should check it out. Also might visit Sweden before the end of the year. Poke!
Месяц назад
I owned "Hell freezes over", but i was very disappointed in that one. I personally think this one is much better! Sweden welcomes you. Poke! ;) Thanks for watching and take care! :)
I've made up my mind. I'm going to become an ex-pat. Just kidding, oh how I wish. I LOVE the Earth, Wind, and Fire song, and all of their music. I wasn't familiar with your other finds, so I'll have to check them out. Appreciate your content.
Месяц назад
Well, you're welcome to Sweden if you should change your mind. ;) I love Earth, Wind & Fire as well. I'm getting closer to complete collection. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
I always go for the "Giganti Del Jazz", if they are not too expensive, The cover , and how that works, often makes it that these records are near mint.
3 месяца назад
"Giganti del Jazz" is very common in the dollar bins here. There are some that are good, but i have also bought some that wasn't all that good. I found one with Lee Koonitz with big band that was very disappointing. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
They often use live recordings, so it depends how it was recorded. However, imo, for a buck the info that is inside still makes a good reading worth the buck.
I like the vintage camera sounds at the beginning. I saw a few things that I wanted, but you got some good stuff.

I'm glad you liked it, Dave. It was fun to include something cool with the photos. It was a great day and i'm glad i didn't leave there empty handed. Thanks for watching! 🙂
So much joy in a beautiful town. The people of Sundsvall know how to appreciate the midsummer weather. Thanks Jorgen. I mean brother J~ Rob/Boston

Hi Brother R, it isn't always nice weather at midsummer. Swedish midsummer has a reputation of having rain many times. But this year it was jackpot. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
So much Saga and Deep Purple and the like. I didn't see a single record by Heintje. Oh well, at least you had your meatballs and mashed potatoes.
3 месяца назад
It would be interesting to see Heintje among all these hardrock records. ;) Not the best Deep Purple albums, collections or those i had (Live in Japan). Thanks for watching and take care! :)
I would have definitely grabbed that Johnny & the Hurricanes single quickly. Not that they are worth a lot. But because they were a great band. <> I think the LRB single stands for the Little River Band. <> That Martha & the Muffins debut called Metro Music was good. I think it was released in 1980 or possibly 1979.The song "Echo Beach" got huge airplay here in America. Picture sleeve singles by Kid Creole and Herman Brood. You can't go wrong. Well done brother J. Solid balcony update~ Rob/Boston

Hi Brother R, sorry for the late respons. Of course it is Little River Band. Where are my mind at? I've heard very little of Martha & The Muffins, but what i have heard i liked. I thought Herman Brood were pretty unknown, but i'm glad you know of them. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Wow that was a trek. I hope you didn’t walk that far. I hope it’s not too cold in Sweden. Some great jazz. Well done.

The fair is in the main city so it was not far at all. At that time it was a bit colder, but still zero degrees (celsius). It was a great fair indeed. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Love those fairs in the beautiful city of Sundsvall. Boy. That was quite a thorough Bowie section. I do not understand the prices. But I take it that they are reasonable? The Bud Powell and the Art Farmer are right up your jazz alley. The song Your Nashville Sneakers from the Guess Who's 'Rockin' album has a really cool jazz feel to it. You will dig it. Love hanging out with you in good ole Sundsvall brother J. Thanks for taking us along~ Rob/Boston
I think it's warmer in Tuktoyaktuk than it is in Sundsvall. What's the "free earplugs" for? Is it super loud in there? The Guess Who?!? *Shocking!* No record collection is complete without the Swe-Danes. (?) You won't find any of these treasures unless you get on your knees and DIG!

At that time it was round zero degrees (celsius). Now it is almost summer heat. The earplugs are not for the fair. I assume they are for the concerts that are being played on the club normally. That Swe-Danes-album was actually their debut release in USA. Check out the song "Scandinavian shuffle". It is amazing vocals and scatsinging in that one. Most of the stuff i like are usually put on the floor so i'll gladly go down. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
We have similar tastes in 70s music 🎶 😀👍! So many great memories, and I was all over my transistor radio 📻, left and right, back then! 34:30 Thank you Jorgen, for sharing your collection 😊!
There were a few artists that I have not heard yet Jorgen. But it was a lot of fun checking them out. There were also quite a few that I knew. The Jimmy Cleveland and the Cecil Payne are nice ones. Anything with Kenny Dorham on it must be great. Enjoyed seeing them all as usual brother J. These artists are right up your listening alley. Do you agree?~ Rob/Boston

Hi Brother R, it was indeed some great weeks for 45s. After hearing quick peaks of the singles they were indeed in my alley. Thanks for watching and take care! 🙂
I am SHOCKED that there's still snow left. Alnö: the town built from Lego blocks. That is a sad collection of records for sale. Stephen Schnee will reprimand you for not taking that Gilbert O'Sullivan record. I guess when you live on an island, you gotta have boats, but that bridge makes it easier to get around. Yum yum.
5 месяцев назад
Hahaha, i have never heard that comparing with Lego. I will think of that the next time i'm there. I have already 98 % of all Gilbert O'Sullivan-albums that i see in thrift stores, including that one. There were a public boat from the main city to the island, but it was removed some years ago and now it is only the bridge, unless you don't have a boat of your own. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Nice to see that you were able to pick up some for your mom Jorgen. Do you think the LP's were pretty much picked through before you got there? Do they usually have a lot more titles that would have been of interest to you? There were some good CD titles. Really dug the scenery around the island Alno. So much of Sweden is very beautiful. Thank you for sharing it all brother J~ Rob/Boston

Hi Brother R, those records were pretty much the same records that are in all swedish flea markets and i haven't found a great title there in a couple of years. That jazz-CD was a surprise find to me. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Hello Jörgen. Nice to see you again. Wow. You covered a few genres of music in that stack. I thought that the Heart single may have been the rock band from Seattle with the same name. But it is not. They are from the Netherlands'. The Hues Corporation's 'Rock The Boat' was a huge single here and went to number one in the early to mid seventies. I remember hearing it on terrestrial radio along with George McCrae and his great song 'Rock Your Baby'. Two excellent disco hits. That summer also featured Kool & the Gang's 'Hollywood Swinging', O'Jays 'For the Love of Money' and the Jackson Five's 'Dancing Machine'. The hits were pumping out in high numbers. I think that Cher single you showed was also 1974. Fantastic stack brother DJ. Oops. I mean brother J~ Rob/Boston

Hi Brother R, A lot of genres, that is my middle name by now. ;) The George McCrae-single will show up in part 2 if i'm not wrong. The of other three you mentioned i don't have yet. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
Nice bunch of 45s! 💪😎 There were about a dozen or so singles that my 45 collection is still missing. Looking forward to the next part, Jarkko/MyVinylBar

Good luck hunting for those singles you're missing. Part 2 will be up soon. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
