WOW! GYPSY is my favorite musical, and I absolutely LOVE Carolee - so how I've missed this post is beyond me. The production looks fantastic, Austen Bohmer is charming and seems perfect casting for Louise, and of course Carolee is sensational. Carolee is one of the finest theater vocalists of all time, but her dramatic skills are equally impressive, and what a great role for her. I wasn't yet born when Merman led the original cast, but I've seen every Broadway revival, and this production looks spectacular. Congratulations to everyone who was involved.
It’s so exciting for me to see anything relating to beauty and the beast, this reminds me of my birthday. The Broadway show debuted April 18th 1994, I was born 4 days after this date, the same month as well. As this doesn’t surprise me anymore that I have the Disney DNA in me for the rest of my life.
lol did they take the old costumes from the most recent Broadway revival? Bc I think they did which is fine, put them to good use instead of tossing them.
Just seeing this now, and WOW! Lauren was wonderful and I was really impressed with how this production staged everything in the round. I especially loved “What You Want!”
Do you all happen to have a DVD with the full production. I have heard of the actor John McGinty. I live in Texas. I would love to see the production as I have a special needs adult child and we sometimes use sign language as well. I have seen parts of the one Joshua Castille and EJ Cardona did at the 5th Avenue Theatre.
Oh how I wish I could go and see my ever favourite musical production once again!! 🥰🥰 I used to work back stage at the Chicago production of Ragtime and it was truly the best time of my life!! 🥰🥰
Fantastic production! "SPOILER ALERT" (though not sure how to spoil since it's closed.) Seen over a hundred of producions of RENT but first time IN THE ROUND... with A ROTATING STAGE. Incredible blocking of SOL (was not expecting the Life Support section to leave me in tears) and ICYR hit 100x harder seeing Collins rise over the voices as Angel moved up the "downstage" aisle. Definitely need a longer run, but wouldn't be as special if all the Music Circus runs were. This production will stay with me forever. Kudos to everyone involved!
Never got to see Brian Stokes Mitchell in the role but I did get to see Quentin Earl Darrington in the revival just before it closed far too quickly. Listen to how long he holds it at the end. My all-time favorite musical.
Totally agree about the opening. It grabbed me the first time I saw it at Theatreworks in Mountain View . I've lost count of how many times I've seen Ragtime. See you next week. And I'll bet I'll already be crying by the time the first song ends!
