I hope that Coach K can install a lot of this creativity by the time that the 0$U and Washington games come around. One weakness of the MY offense was that they often failed to sequence plays in a manner that took advantage of our opponent's tendencies, and we had a lot of drives stall because of that.
After the beating that the PSU secondary took against Ol' Miss and the addition of 4 PAC-12 teams to the conference, Tom Allen's schemes are a welcome addition. Allen has been known for his innovative blitz designs, and any hybrid edition of Allen/Diaz blitz designs should improve the pass defense overall. Allen's defenses may not appear to be as flashy as Manny's during a game, but a look at the statistics after the games will prove Tom Allen's worth.
I say we withhold our white out. I think it plays into our advantage if we do. The white out is good for TV, and it’s an advantage for our toughest opponents, brand wise, for it to be the biggest game.
BEST part about Coach K coming this THIS season is that we'll be having mic communications with QBs. Now, DA and BP don't need to memorize much. It's all coming down in words with the right cues within 15 seconds straight into their ears. Very excited to see this offense FIREEEEEEEEEEE! And we have an elite defense fr. CFP at Beaver Stadium, here we come!
Instead of over analyzing every On3 player that NEVER will commit to PSU you provide the best practical information out there. This production is simply stellar and you have presented in a short YT something that BWI couldn’t produce even if they were bribed with deer jerky. This may be the single best piece of work to show why every fan should be excited about this fall. Instead of popping Xanax because another Florida dude stiffed PSU, you provide solid, intelligent content. ❤ u man!
Thanks BlueJay. Trying to have these Spotlight pieces complement our normal Film Study series with Coach Codutti (returns in July, btw) by mixing in film analysis with a narrative. Similar but different, if that makes any sense.
Really appreciate in hindsight your review. One of the distinctions you don’t make is the plays from year 2 vs year 3. (Year 1 was basically a throw away season because they didn’t get hired until after spring ball was over so August was the first time they got to do anything together.) Below, you make the comment about KU fans complaining about the sugar huddle. I think a chunk of that comes from it not being executed very well the first season/year 2. Unfortunately, some people don’t change even when the results change. I wonder if the success rate changed from year to year as the players became more comfortable with the plays. Thanks for the review, opportunity to reminisce.
Andy Kotelnicki will bring elite playcalling skill set to Penn state welding together the some greatest offensive players in the B1G conference forming a MEGATRON DEATH machine capable of crushing any defense they face. Quite possibly the GREATEST offense in PENN STATE history! 2024 is the year of the fighting lions. God bless James Franklin for making the hire of the century 🫡
The 94 offense was so damn great, that the average scoring after the whole season was 1:57 seconds!!! WE actually had a very good defense, but they were on the field all damn day in a good way obviously, like when you hear your defense is amazing, but offense sucks, so they are on the field all day, this was a rare example of the opposite!!! Lol WE ARE
Understand. The coaching staff is up and down. Don’t be there friend or buy them hellcats. Show them the ropes like JOE and his staff did. It’s sad to see no JO pictures in Lache. He was 409. Then yall make it out to be he was the bad guy. PSU covers up anything.
The reality is if the offense can execute, any scheme will work. Ultimately it's about lining up and knocking the other guy back a few yards. And when PSU is up against elite B10 talent like Ohio State, USC, and Washington that's when execution become paramount.
@@kevinchandler179 ...and we were supposed to beat Ohio State last year, and that didn't turn out so well. Don't assume major programs with good football pedigrees will be "overrated" or a pushover.
Our offense is gonna be so exciting. Hopefully Drew is working on getting quicker to run and more accurate with his passing. If not this offense is perfect for BP….
After watching this, Penn State's tight ends should be ecstatic. AK had big guys running uncovered downfield. Yurcich wasted Theo and Warren's talents last year.
@ForTheBlogy OK. We're gonna need two QB's for sure then. Because someone's going to smash him one time, and his shoulder will feel the brunt of it. Allar's not a double threat QB.
@@whofan1967 Agreed. And I think we will. Kansas' starter Jalon Daniels got hurt in 2022 and 2023, although he is a very very slim kid. Allar a different build, for sure. And Allar is definitely not a dual threat but Yurcich did dial up QB draws and RPOs with QB run options (Michigan TD), so this shouldn't be totally foreign to Allar.
looks like the night november rule died with the new tv deal www.chicagotribune.com/2023/11/01/big-tens-billion-dollar-a-year-television-package-will-make-night-football-games-in-november-a-regular-thing/
@@kevinchandler179 3peat big ten champs rose bowl dub and a natty, I’ll take that over a dumb tradition and being 3th in the big ten, well now you’re 6th or 7th with expansion. Yall nothing more than a bunch of pussie cats lololol. I can’t wait to see yall miss the playoffs again and again.
You can't do a White Out against a damn team at the bottom of the league. Its funny he says draw more views but if Penn State didn't draw enough views then why is fox picking them for big noon?
This is on Pat Kraft. PERIOD. PSU can't be bullied into having Whiteouts against inferior opponents, just like it couldn't/shouldn't have been bullied for years over the 'always on the road' B1G scheduling. The White Out is the top NEW college football tradition of the 21st century and MUST be treated with reverence and be protected. The fact that we're even fathoming having it vs. Illinois (a team with a Vegas O/U is a GD joke.
@@tima.5533 You say this as if Pat Kraft is completely powerless. He could certainly use the media to put pressure on the league to fix this. Speak into every microphone available. Every morning debate show. Every podcast. Every outlet available. Put heat on the B1G to preserve a great, marketable and lucrative tradition.
It's also got to have something on the line. If there's nothing on the line - flattening overmatched Iowa and Minny teams in 2022 and 2023 - then the Whiteout loses its luster quick. Its the 'OH WOW' spectacle AND the stakes. That makes its unique.
@@johnsongoat8131 That is definitely part of it but with more big games being added. UCLA USC OU UW we should have more games with more on the line moving forward where that wont be an issue. Just wait till we add FSU and Clemson lol
@@gen.barnakey__ true. we're setting King's over/under career All-Pro selections at 17.5. The guy is not only gonna change the way we think about football but also feed the hungry, cure the sick, and be the one true righteous judge of both the living and the dead.
Sounds great for Philadelphia... Here 2 yrs later and trying to mold him under Vic Fangio's system in Philly is probably his last shot at taking it to the next level!
Wish I got to grow up with that Iowa football instead of fkn Kirk Ferrance's run on 1st and 2nd down then incomplete pass on 3rd. I fucking can't stand watching Iowa football anymore, just a bunch a pansies now.
Wrong, it’s a 1st down run up the middle for two yards, followed by a 2nd down over/underthrown screen pass, followed by a 3rd down run back up the middle for 2 more yards. Then, we break out our secret weapon, a towering punt inside our opponent’s 10 yard line and our stone wall of a defense gets the ball back within 5 plays and then the cycle repeats baby!
Coach Codutti is one of the best at breaking down film so it's understandable for a variety of football audiences. We're fortunate to have him onboard.
PSU requires athletes to go to class. That’s one of the factors. Move south of the Mason Dixon line and the majority of schools do not hold athletes to any standard…. The UNC basketball team for example didn’t even take an exam a few years ago. Other than Duke and Georgia Tech the whole southern philosophy is a sham. Why would an athlete from Florida who grew up in THE worst school system want to go to any program where they would actually have to go to class?
King Mack didn't leave because he's from FLA. He left because he's going into year 2 as the 4th safety on the team. You don't see Durant, Cam Miller, Kaytron Allen, etc...leaving. Why not? Because they all get a lot of playing time. Noah Cain, Lee, Dunmore, TJ Jones, Holmes all left because he got passed on the depth chart later in their career. There is no narrative here. These players just got passed on the depth chart and would have transferred no matter where they were from.
Your exactly right, but K. Mack was going to get a lot of playing time, just because he wasn't a starter doesn't mean shit!!! I think K. Mack is going to get a lot of NiL money 💰 and don't blame him!!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled
The real truth is that I don't know why any of us get mad or upset now days 🤔? NIL and transfer portal bullshit is ridiculous and pathetic and ruining college football as we know it!!!
The one aspect that's not discussed is what affect does spending time and energy recruiting uphill battles in faraway states have when he try to keep outsiders from the SEC from poaching top players from Philly and Maryland (which I consider PA South when it comes to Penn State's recruiting footprint). Can we find (and keep) kids of comparable talent closer to home?
I liked his 2nd level film. yes he is a "catcher" but all to often I see OLs just whiff at that level. if u cover a 2nd level target, ur back isn't to worried about him
