My top Beatles songs are all Lennon.. A Day in the Life, Im Only Sleeping, Dear Prudence. He wrote some great songs, but the older I have gotten the more RESPECT I have for Paul’s work ethic, structure, talent and genius mind. Plus, RAM is better than most Beatles albums and could hang in the conversation with their top work. So a younger me: Lennon. Today: McCartney.
On the basis of who they are as people (and they’re both really flawed) I’d probably have to say McCartney. This comes down to principles. First, I don’t believe Yoko was the reason the Beatles broke up. The reason they broke up couldn’t be further from her though I’ll admit she’s in the circle of reasons why, standing silently next to John. That said, John beat his first wife, neglected his first son Julian, and pushed for Allen Klein to be the Beatles manager that did culminate in the Beatles breaking up. While I’m listing John’s sins I’ll be fair and acknowledge Paul’s too. He pushed to hard and burnt the other 3 guys out, was as dismissive of George as John was, and even at one point drove Ringo out of the group and when his drumming didn’t meet his (Paul’s) standards re recorded the drum part himself. His biggest sin was buying more shares of their song writing publishing company which effectively meant Paul was earning more money off of all songs under the Lennon-McCartney label even for songs he had 0 involvement in. My decision remains Paul over John for the latter’s domestic issues, but on the whole I think they’re equal in terms of songwriters. For one it’s unfair to compare the longevity of their full catalogues against each other given John was killed too young, but for what he was able to put out in such a short amount of time and leave that big an impact is pretty incredible.
Paul McCartney was the more accomplished songwriter. Lennon had the most talent in the early days, he was gifted with a great voice and the ability to effortlessly create great songs (This Boy, I Feel Fine, I Should Have Known Better, If I Fell, Help, Ticket to Ride, In My Life, etc.). McCartney had a better musical background and was more dedicated and hard working. Lennon was insecure, lazy and ruined himself with drugs. So McCartney accomplished more in his career, including writing the better Beatles songs from 1966 until 1969 (for example, Hey Jude, Let it Be, Paperback Writer, Here There and Everywhere, Elenore Rigby, and She's Leaving Home). McCartney also had the better career in the 1970s, with his numerous successful singles and albums.

0:52: I was about to comment that at the beginning of the video...he couldn't possibly have heard it for the first time after filming, given all the stories I hear about Spielberg going to see him, etc, asking him to do the film before they even agreed, lol...
Jordan you have never looked dorky, you were a gorgeous young man and you are now a gorgeous grown man!!!! You seem like you are as gorgeous on the inside as you are on the outside!!! You seem to be very sweet and caring and considerate of others!!! Perfection is what I see when I look at you!!!!❤❤❤❤
Mary, his fake assed gold digging ex wife is what destroyed a beautiful man of talent. That witch crucified him publicly after he died. She pissed all over his grave in a snarling two-paged rant in the Rolling Stone magazine about how worthless he was calling him a deadbeat loser, an athiest paranoid pile of shit, etc, airing heinous accusations about him knowing he couldn't defend himself from his lonely grave! Then in a follow up article Mary, ex wife of eight years, was suing his current widow, Jamie, to be the executor of his estate!! She even went to court to find out if his 2007 will (written the last year they were married) was his last known will (ex bitch looking for a glitch on a technicality) hoping he hadnt yet updated his will replacing Mary's inheritance with Jamie. Everyone should know what this fricken immoral snake did to Scott. Wow. She will have to pay for what she did and I hope there's a place in hell for her. I hope she lost that brazen legal attempt and her arrogant ass is now working in the fast food industry until she dies. His poor kids had nobody to lean on in grieving their dad's death because she couldn't be a grown assed mother and keep her mouth shut for their sake like a real mother. She is the horrendous parent. After their ugly divorce Scott became a 75-yo looking zombie while that parasite chewed him alive and kept his kids from him while collecting a large sum of money every month for child support. You can see his death looking shell of himself in his interviews and performances right before he died letting contrary Mary win. That gold digging ho was pissed off that he died because her hefty child support payments suddenly ended her cush life. Ironically Mary aided in cutting his life short and caused her own financial demise! Drugs didn't kill Scott, his ex-wife Mary did!
Dear LORD she is in love with him. Thankfully, this was before she was married, or Franco would be pissed! I've seen so many people comment on other interviews about them being so in love with each other, and I always thought they were reading too much into it, but after the last couple interviews, I've seen, she definitely has a lot more than BFF or Brother/Sister vibes going on. What's funny is she just stares lovingly at him constantly, while he mostly looks at the interviewer. Glad he's staying true to his wife. But, yeah, fck him, I'd give my left nut to have her look at me like that!
John Lennon was martyred at the young age of 40. McCarney was the more sucessful. My favorite Beatles song is While My Guitar Gently eeps. There is no right or wrong answer. My 2 favorites collaborations are We can work it out and A Day In The Life. It was John's group but the biggest commercial sucess was Paul. Simply put "Damn ifI know".
McCartney and Lennon define "synergism." However great they were separately, together they were better than anyone else in rock and roll ever. But, for me, McCartney. More great songs. The best melodies. Top 10 rock and roll vocalist ever. Top 5 bass players ever. And his daughter Mary is really cute.
When I was a kid growing up in the 60s, most of the Beatles songs that captured my imagination and were lead by Lennon, like my all-time favorite Beatles song, "Ticket to Ride."
