We thank you for choosing us as your comprehensive health care source for cardiovascular medicine delivered in a personal, considerate, responsive, and well-informed approach.
At Heart South Cardiovascular Group, we recognize that patients who need a cardiologist often have no prior experience or an understanding in the subject of cardiovascular medicine. That is why the doctors and staff at Heart South take a personal attitude when it comes to treating patients. Our Board-Certified Cardiologists are skilled in the evaluation, diagnosis, and care of all medical conditions associated with managing heart-related problems.
The tech uniform is not a white coats. They are not doctors to the lady who almost died in surgery and the surgeon 😷 and others wear scrubs not white coats😅
Tysm for this cuz I’m literally walking to mine now and I have the worst anxiety around it and this made me feel a bit better actually physically seeing what I’m going into
This confused me. I just finished my treadmill stress test and they never gave me any instructions. When i went in i was told to hold on as tight as possible with an old bp cuff on my wrist (it didnt stay on my upper arm) the ekg nodes and nothing else. I was just told to hold on to the bar tightly. It was 6 minutes and 90% of those 6 minutes i was alone in the room. I was already feeling fatigued when i first came in (had a very bad day with symptoms. The test was late in the day) aftwr about 5 minutes the dr asked how i was feeling. I noticed my hr was in the 100s (from 100 to 150) my heartbeat was very hard and fast (POUNDING). I was hyperventilating. I was getting weak legged. Lightheaded and dizzy. I told him my chest and lower throat hurt. He said oh thats just your breathing heavy cause your not used to working out like this (despite doing the recommended 30 minutes) he said everything looks normal and ill see you in 3 months. He left the room and when he did with the nurses i had to lay down (after falling onto the exam table right behind me) he came back in and asked me why i was laying down. As if my palpitations and 100+ hr still plus the hyperventilating wasnt enough of a clue! I struggled to tell him that i was getting dizzy and lightheaded so i had to lie down. He chuckled and said oh you just need to exercise 30 minutes a day. I said i do that when just walking to the bus stop. He said good keep doing that. I said its not like i have a choice. I honestly dont know if what i was feeling was genuinely normal but i somehow doubt palpitations, high hr and hyperventilating after only a 6 minute brisk walk wasn't normal. Any information would be greatly appreciated
The worst part is sitting still the 2 times under the scanning camera. BEFORE test and AFTER...The process requires a lot of waiting time for the nuclear meds to get to the heart. The actual STRESS just makes you breathe a lot more and may scare you a little. It's normal...
What is an interventional cardiologist and is there one at HeartSouth? I’m looking for a new cardiologist after spending several days in CICU at St. Vincent’s East. I’m officially diagnosed with PAD.
Am I nervous? of course, but I haven't had medical insurance for over 8 years and I finally got Medicare, Honestly I'm excited to finally being able to to go to the doctor and have tests done that I've needed to have done for years. I need to know what is going on with my heart, might be nothing, might be something, but I need to know. Next up is a colonoscopy .... Yea, me... LOL..
had this done 2 years ago only problem i had was it made my eyes feel like they where on fire they had 2 give me the second shot to make it go away after 3 mins. now got to go take another test this week
I had this test today. The vasodilator took my breath away and made me a bit flushed for about a minute, then everything was normal. Don't let what you heard scare you!
I had a great dr the first time I did the short version about 1 hr or so. He talked to me the whole time while giving me instructions on what to do. My surprise when he said. ALL DONE!! I pray my next dr is as great! I'm having the 3hr one in a few days.
I had a heart monitor on for 48 hours due to fainting in pe. The doctor said she saw some arrhythmia or something and now I need to see a cardiologist along with and echo, im a little scared for the echo tbh 😅
That's my fear, too. I don't think doctors can always understand and appreciate what it's like for us to experience panic attacks. It's not some silly minor thing (but you already know that).
I have this tomorrow and I also have anxiety/panic disorder and this is totally going to be triggering cause of the feeling 😢 I’m not looking forward to this experience… I really hope I can take a benzo before it :/
I have one tomorrow morning and I'm freaking out, because I do get really bad anxiety with this kind of stuff. And the last time I had a stress test that was just on a treadmill my tachycardia acted up so bad I started seeing stars and felt like I was going to pass out, and instead of sympathizing they said give me five more minutes LOL. I just told him no and jumped off I'm like I don't think you quite understand what passing out means. So I'm afraid I'm going to go there they're going to start injecting me with that stuff and I'm going to have an allergic reaction
thank you, I am going next monday. It took me so long to realize the tech was saying PET, not BET.....nothing comes up under BET stress test....Once I figured that out, I learned enough. thanks!
I just had this done to me today (Lexiscan), and because it was foreign to me I got scared, but I only felt pressure as if they were filling your body up with something, like in the Matrix and you thought you were drawning and pulling you in different directions. At one point they did ask me if I wanted to call the Ambulance and I said no is not that bad, is pressure, slight headache, dizzy and at the end, you can taste the metal. It wasn't an awful experience at all, but it wasn't roses either, but no pain at all!. My advise? Stop reading the negative comments, is not that bad at all, be strong!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am concerned I’ll have a panic attack. I want to be prepared for what I’ll be feeling. I know it will be more than just a metallic taste and faster heart rate.
@@LornaFrasier It did go well. No worries. I had an NP and two technicians with me throughout the test. Being out of breath while at rest was the most uncomfortable part. It’s just so unnatural! But it only lasted for a few minutes and the NP was right there talking to me throughout. The nasty taste of the contrast media was pretty annoying and lasted for hours, so be prepared for that. Don’t worry. You’ll do well. They keep you so busy you won’t have time to panic. 😄
