Hello, Welcome to my channel My name is Nouf, I’m a doctor and i just moved to Lyon, France in December 2022. Taking a break and Enjoying life. Documenting a few moments in my life. I am learning French and enjoying the city of Lyon. I want to document my experience and have fun with it. Evolving, growing, experiencing life and creating beautiful memories with lots of coffee, good food and good friends ❤️
My so precious town! Whenever I leave it I miss it! The two rivers, the beautiful fourviere hill and its basilica, the terreaux square, just every single thing❤
Hi and congrats. I really enjoyed this honest POV, currently I am considering relocating from Paris to Lyon and have similar challenges (with the language, relying on others etc..) Thank you for being vulnerable! How difficult is/was it for you to make friends in Lyon as an expat?
Hey! Thank you so much!! 🥰 It’s definitely not easy in the beginning but there are a few groups for expats and other events for internationals where you meet people and make friends, I’ve been lucky to have meet a few kind people that way so attending some of these international events can be really helpful and fun!
Really enjoyed your video, very well edited and filmed. So glad you had a great time in London. Come back soon. Go and do the tour and take in a play at Shakespare’s Globe it’s magical.
Thank you so much, I’m happy you enjoyed the vlog! Yess i read about this somewhere, I’ll definitely add it to my list for next time!!! I will be back soon, London is a beautiful city!
Thank you for the video. My wife and I are thinking of taking our three toddlers to France for a month and staying in two or three different towns, one of which is Lyon. Are there websites that aren’t Airbnb where you can find short term house rentals in Lyon or other parts of France?
I’m glad you found this helpful! Unfortunately no I don’t know any! I rarely use these websites, but I wish you and your family a great time in France! 😊
Next time you go to London - Get out of central.. there are hundreds of villages across London, that are so pretty and quiet, with cute high streets that have cafes, coffee shops etc. These places are the 'real' London. I recommend these places for you: Chiswick, Richmond, Kew, Notting Hill, Chelsea, Fulham, Wimbledon Village, Barnes, Ealing, Hampstead, Belgravia, Muswell Hill, Barnet, Islington, Clapham Common, Dulwich, Black Heath. (Most Londoners live outside of central and just visit the busy areas for work)
Thank youu so much for these recommendations!!! Definitely what i was thinking for my next visit! And i want to start exploring other cities as well so if you have any recommendations for quiet and calm cities worth the visit please let me know ☺️
Great filming! Such interesting views and locations. Thanks for sharing your trip! I’ve been admiring your jewelry, especially your necklace. Would you mind sharing the brand name? If not, that’s ok too :) Can’t wait to see more vlogs.
They are both big cities with a lot of fun and interesting things to see its just two different vibes, i think Paris is more intimate with lots of cafes where you can just stop, have a coffee and people watch. It has a romantic vibe to it if that makes sense lol and London is really diverse with a more vibrant, dynamic vibes and liveliness and every neighborhood or area has a different atmosphere, there’s something for everyone!
Paris is nice in the central arrondissements, with great cafes but it all looks the same. London has a better vibe - Each neighbourhood has a different feel and look/architecture & style. I think London is better for 1 week, Paris is ok for 2/3 days max.
WOW! On my end it's only 24 hours difference since watching your last video, but on your end, 2 months passed. And look how happy you are settling into your new changes--as I suspected would happen. Congratulations. And so excited to see the Lyon footage, I'm so jazzed up. (I also need to sell MY air fryer before I leave). Annnnnd, I learned a new video trick watching this one.
Ok Doc! I had bookmarked, and had been saving this video, because the title made me think you'd left France. But wow, still there and staying. Congrats, and you'll be fine, you're totally a self-motivated and determined person. Hope I can get it together by the Olympics, so I'd be just a train ride away for the day to ile de F. I briefly considered Chambery, but that program just closed. For the next 18 months!!! So that's that. I look forward to your more recent uploads.
Awww Thank you so much ❤️ I’m definitely more settled and i love it, i will absolutely do more Lyon vlogs!! ! I’ve decided to get another plant for now instead of a pet I’m just taking it slow on the level of responsibility and commitment 😆☺️
Such a lovely video. I’m visiting next week and thank you for reminding me to visit the Shakespeare bookstore. I think you should watch the recent film called “the holdovers” it references one of the books you purchased :) Have a wonderful day
Thank youu! I’m happy this reminded you! It’s worth visiting! Ooh nice I will definitely add it to my list to watch, thanks for sharing this with me and Paris is so beautiful in March, hope you enjoy. Have a nice trip 😊
Hi! Well, the first thing I want to say is…Thank you so much! You know, what’s on youtube are videos that are basically “hey we’re moving to France and buying a chateau in the countryside” or “I just moved to Paris!” or “We went on a 2 day vacation in Lyon!” So your video is, man, maybe the only one I’ve been able to find. In months of looking. So yeah, thanks for all the specific insights, tools and details. Looking at your channel, it looks like all these months later you’ve had some changes in your life, but I’ll watch them from the start and enjoy the full journey. Maybe I can think of a few questions, oh ok I have some now. Please feel free to skip any you prefer not to answer Where did you move there from? What level of French did you have when you arrived? You mentioned getting turned down when you didn’t have an actual person as a guarantor-is it possible to apply and say up front, “I’m using GarantMe” so you don’t have to play that game later? It sounds like you did eventually do that. I forgot the last thing…OH! Where did you stay during that month of looking? AirBNB? Student housing? Hotel? Hostel? Thanks ahead of any answers, and again, you’ve probably helped more people than you know…
Hi!! Thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m really glad you found this video helpful, it makes me happy! 😊 For your question about the GarantMe, yes absolutely you can tell them from the beginning what’s your guarantee situation! I stayed with a host family during that time and I started at the French school from the beginner level A1. Thank you again and wish you all the best! 😊
Bonjour! Loved your video. Coincidentally I was there myself for the same weekend as you (me from England). Do you have any idea what the store was that you were in at 6.16? It looks right up my street for next time. Thank you.
Hi! I’m new to your channel- when you say you are starting your residency, are you going to med school in France or is this different? From another video I saw you were already working as a doctor before moving
Hey! Thanks for checking my channel! No its not med school. Residency is something doctors can do after graduating medical school which is a training program to specialize in a specific field in medicine (cardiology, neurology, pediatrics etc.) 😊
