hi i am going to japan soon, what is your experience like being dark skinned in japan? I am brown and I am wondering if it will be harder to make friends, thanks!
Depends on where you are at. The country side they are a bit more conservative and not use to foreigners. Also they are extremely shy. In the bigger cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, you will be fine. They speak more English in those areas and are use to being around foreigners. Dark skinned and not.
As someone who travels back and forth between Japan perusing the dream of one day living there I understand this, when pursuing goals you have to deal with solitude, probably more often than you’d like. I hate it still but there’s an understanding that I have to deal with it in order to achieve what I want to achieve. Having to deal with the fact that I have to do thinks for my self by myself has been hard, I’m so used to someone constantly holding my hand. We got this my brother🤝🏻. Plus solitude really makes you value and appreciate the time u spend with other people 🙂
you explained it so well! that is exactly what it is. It sucks but its the path to achieving our goals and dreams. The biggest thing is understanding that we have to go through it even though its hard and we dont want to. theres no other way through it. Once i realized that i started to find peace and joy being alone. The hard part is when comparison creeps in and the fear of FOMO
chemistry is most important. The persons energy and ability to adapt when there are barriers. We all know one person that no matter what the situation is they know how to make it enjoyable. In these situations, you have to become that person
i have been in japan for a year and a half and i started learning when i got to japan. I will say the best way to learn is whichever way you enjoy but i started with learning katakana and hirgana then i moved to learning grammar and vocabulary. I brought the genki 1 and 2 textbooks. after i understood the basic grammar i started to listen to podcasts and finding speaking partners. so i speak japanese for an hr monday-wednesday
And just when I was thinking the youtube algorithm was entirely broken, it showed me this gem. Real good stuff bro. I love Japan and try to go at least twice a year but in the meantime I'll live through your videos vicariously lol. Agreed, dating ain't easy out there, but you've inspired me 😂. Here's to reaching 1,000 subs and beyond🍻
twice a year is a blessing wow!! where do you usually travel in japan? thank you for the kind words ill make sure to hit that 1,000 subs and beyond soon for you!. Algorithm today felt you may have needed to see this lol
@@justarijones3403 indeed it is! It took me a while to finally make it out to Japan the first time, so I feel like I've been making up for lost time and I'm super grateful I can right now. OK I've only been 4 times 😅 but I'll be there again in October. I go to Tokyo for at least a little bit, but the rest is pretty open ended. I'm pretty sure I'll be in Hokkaido for part of it and probably will head out to the kansai region too. Fa sho 🙏🏾, and I appreciate that 😂 頑張って bro. Oh and how'd you come to live in Japan? Or do you already talk about that in a video?
@@Smuuuth 4 times is plenty and soon to come again! Tokyo is always nice. This summer ill head up to hokkaido as well. The kansai area is a must i heard its really really beautiful and more open minded people! teaching english is probably the easiest way to live in japan. may not be the best but if you make the most of the opportunity its well worth it.
@@justarijones3403 I don't think I could handle Honshu in the summer but I do want to try Hokkaido in the summer at some point. Enjoy, sir! I went to Osaka once and can confirm that but now that I'm a tad more confident I'll interact with people a little more next time. Good to know 👌🏾 I'm still figuring things out so we'll see but I'll Def keep that in mind. Much appreciated 🙏🏾
Ok, I appreciate you;-you're out there being a risk taker. It makes sense to have someone to take you around and put foods in front of you. If I were there in that market I'd be worried about accidentally eating something which is supposed to be cooked or vice-versa. It's very confusing being in Asian markets. The ideal is to get someone to shop with you in an Asian market and then take you home and show you how to cook it.
It’s very confusing being in Asian markets! I’d end up eating something that’s not edible thinking it was. So having someone help makes it so much easier. I was able to know what I liked and didn’t like too. My pallet grew stronger
Japan attracts lonely people. That’s why I’m here too 😅 the society strongly mirrors you which gives you the opportunity to work through your loneliness and find self love, hopefully
I’m upset that you are absolutely correct 😂 like when you are going through it you don’t understand why but you get to a certain point where it clicks and you start to wish you never resisted in the beginning. Best opportunity once you realize that. Still mad though you called it out 😂
@@justarijones3403 Well I hope so, but if not, I think you need to understand that it's not you, it's just the language barrier and nothing to do with your personality or looks because you are handsome and seem like a really nice person. If this was just one date, it's still a sweet experience with a nice girl. Good luck fella!
So cute :') Isn't it cool to connect with someone that you can't communicate to with words? It's almost like you need to revert to an old form of communication of gestures and sounds
It’s cute but I’m out here miming 😂 it does help to focus on other ways to communicate than just words you might be on to something lol now I’m going on a dating series
@@justarijones3403 LOL that's fine, i'm sure she finds the awkwardness endearing and is enjoying the process of learning english from you :) maybe get one of those instant translator devices so you can speak to each other quickly :D
@modoodles 😂😂 you are giving me so much confidence the next time I embrace the awkwardness. The RU-vid check ain’t hitting yet but when it does I’ll buy two in case you need one too
