The song is by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, and was from the German opera Aufsteig Und Fall Der Stadt Mahagonny. The imagery, or film clip if you prefer, appears random as the song (to my knowledge) wasn't released as a single. Separately I suggest you check out The Doors 'The End' and Mack The Knife from 'The Threepenny Opera (not the updated version).
I never understood why they chose not to use the third verse, "Show me the way to the next dollar bill," in their recording. I'm sure any struggling band of the time would have related to that.
@@willowgothic The great Marianne Faithfull released a covers album in the 90s called 20TH CENTURY BLUES where she did this song and used all three verses, albeit in different translations from the German ("pretty boy," "little dollar" etc). She did the same for "Mack the Knife" as well. The same album has a cover of Harry Nilsson's "Don't Forget Me," which I think she recorded not long after he had died.
Shit man, the song ended early. There is a whole other part of the song that continues with that dirty riff. You gotta find the full version, cos it's awesome!
May I suggest either a headset or a mic stand? It will keep you about the same distance to the mic and help level your vocal volume. Love that you're doing Sabbath one of the best of all time (Some would say Beatles or Zepplin but IMHO they are fucking WRONG!!! lol)
@@chuckhouse5179 I have ordered a new mic stand for the mic Black Sabbath has been a band that I have been meaning to react to the metal legends Zeppelin n beetles was great in there era
@@willowgothic Beatles and Zepplin are indeed great but Sabbath is just a step beyond. Everyone talks about Ozzy and Tony Iommi and they are masterful but for me what makes Sabbath so good is Geezer Butler their bass player and songwriter. He is not as well recognized by the mainstream like a Geddy Lee or Les Claypool but his bass lines are just phenomenal.
