When you mounted the bed rails and cabinet to the walls do you screw into the metal studs for each brace or would the plywood be enough to anchor it?

You're adventurous. I've got a 05 1200. Fun on back roads but no good on the highway. Too squirrelly. If you have any older 2 strokes. I hope you do video's on them.

Loving the road trip videos, but when you’re adding in the music at too high of a volume to hear speaking.

Nice roadtrip, I've driven some of those roads and they're fun in any car. The advantage of a fuel injected 4.0 liter can't be understated though, the constant changes in altitude can send an iffy carb quickly to the grave or at least test your sanity lol

I bought a '73 Hornet Sportabout this year, in January... Would you please reply with the brand name or part number of that fuel filter ? As who knows, I may have the same one in my new '73 ... And, have you discovered the fuses location ? Enjoyed watching your clips ... 😁 🇺🇸 ...

Go for it! They are certainly less common. I think posting some videos is a great way to document vehicles and history in general.

So you were camping in below zero weather for 6 days. How did you keep your fresh water and waste water from freezing? Was it all close enough to the camper to keep it warm enough?

Good coffee is important. There's a lot of driving through nothing. Take the train if you want to see every junkyard from there to here. Kinda a cool car. Would have been boring if you didn't have some trouble. I hope you do it again. Maybe next time get something a little less suburban Mom gone bad.

6 X 12 would be a perfect size for my NEXT TRAILER. Agh... I started a 5 X 10 and it has taken, working very part time on it, 1.5 years to do what you and your other half did in three days' time in your build vid. Hahaha... how nice to have a helper and some shop shelter rather than one's driveway to work on yer rig. But I'm not too envious... I like what I'm building but it's far smaller, albeit more easily towed w/ my 1/2-ton, same ground clearance, etc... I'll have a report up in the next six months LOL. Congrats! on a great, big, simple, wonderful build! my friend. Safe travels to you both.

Were these videos like an after thought? What's the story here. How did you get to California? Is this what you went there to do, buy a car and drive back?
@ShanesWay12
@ShanesWay12 5 месяцев назад
Lol, the videos definitely were not the priority. I've always wanted to fly across the country, find something fairly old and road trip it home. We had 6 days to make this happen. Ended up taking us 2.5 days to find something to buy. Thaks for watching!

Did the previous owner swap in a later 4.0 Jeep inline six? If so, he probably hacked and hodge-podged it in. I noticed it tried to die on you in Part 2. Would've been better if it remained stock with whatever 232 or 258 it came with.

I am in love with the V85 TT and it is probably at the top of my list for my next motorcycle. The only thing holding me back was could it handle a BDR so I appreciate your video. I have some loooong miles to get to get to most of the BDR's (I live on the east coast) so I need something comfy for the roads but can manage at least easy to moderate trails. I currently have a 2018 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports and at my skill level it is WAY to big, hell I don't even love it on the road because it's so tall and top heavy. I also have a CRF300L Rally which I love, but not to go halfway cross the country on in a timely fashion. The V85 TT may be one of the only adventure motorcycles I love for its looks as much as its ability and value point.

Hey bud I just installed my rough country e boards yesterday I watched your video the night you posted it really good video but as far as your light issues I think if you cross the light plugs at the control board there’s red and black as you already know but I was thinking if you plug the red into the black port coming out of the controller and vice versa on the other one maybe it will work. Thank you for your video and channel.

Hi Shane, How was your experience with the Puig screen?
@ShanesWay12
@ShanesWay12 6 месяцев назад
Hello! The Puig has been ok. It did not make the difference in air flow I was hoping for initially. However, once I paired it with some deflectors over the top of the fork tubes, I am pretty happy with the results. It does offer decent protection and I have not had any issues with it.
@karelkrticka2786
@karelkrticka2786 6 месяцев назад
Hi, @ShanesWay12, it is great to hear that Puig and wind deflectors work for you. I installed a very similar setup and I hope that it will solve the only issue I have with V85TT. Thank you for the reply! K

v85 will take you on any roads whether it be paved or rocks. I got soft bags after my buddy dropped his bike hard and bent them badly. got my bike jan 21 and have 30k on it. We did a trip to AK in 2022 and had a blast. the v85 is great for the roads less traveled at speeds less than 80. BDR two up sounds challenging. Ride safe Ride free.

What is the make and model of your 12V AC unit?
@ShanesWay12
@ShanesWay12 7 месяцев назад
It was from overseas and I am unsure of brand/model. They are getting much more common within the last year. Similar models are available on Ebay. I only turned A/C on to ensure it functioned so can not comment on how well it worked in the field.

Pretty slick setup! I'd offer one correction. That's a Double Cab. Tundras of that generation come in Double Cab or a Crew Max configuration. The Crew Max is a larger cab and has a rear window that completely rolls down, but was only available with a 5'6" bed.
