I think even in 2024 this camera is worth it. The prices keep going down and it's an absolute steal... I'm waiting on a successor to the SH1, so the used market prices drop even further!
You definitely need an ND filter if you only shoot on cinema lenses because that means you mainly shoot videos and the main way to correct your exposure while capturing videos with the correct settings is with an ND filter so you can use the right shutter speed, ISO, and Aperture.
sir I am from India, I have a query plz suggest me , i just got a lumix s5 and when i rotate the camera body it sideways i can feel something gently moving to the side and vice versa, when camera is on it's normal.. Is that normal? plz reply sir
Hello, yes that's normal. That's the in-body image stabilization system. Don't shake it too much though because you might damage the stabilization system.
HELLO,I am from INDIA ,I have been following you on RU-vid. I am waiting for the new video. Very few people talk about the lumix camera in India but you mentioned in your video about lumix camera. One thing if you can say a little kindly I want to buy a full frame camera only for video my budget is low. How about the lumixS5 in 2024, I know its autofocus is not good. I don't have the budget to buy lumix s5ii.I can't find any other camera in this budget offering this feature. Which camera would you recommend out of 1lakh 30 thousand in INDIAN RUPESS($1500). I am waiting for your reply sir.
Thanks for reaching out brother. For $1,500USD, the Lumix S5 is unbeatable with its features. I made a few videos about it on this channel too. Feel free to check them out. I hope this helped.
Sadly, it is getting outdated hardware and software-wise compared to modern mid-range devices, so by the end of 2024 it will be clinging on to life support.
As a fellow Caribbean citizen I can imagine how cold 12degrees Celsius is. We are accustomed to 30 degrees and sometimes higher :D Have a pleasant time there in the USA, man. I'll keep following you no matter where from the world you are.
I wouldn't say the stock camera app is garbage. For a hybrid workflow for social content its fine. Most times I can just lock the exposure and its fine. I wouldn't buy the iPhone just for videos. The OSMO pocket 3 is better for most.
For some reason, mine never seems to lock exposure 🥲, you know I'm an Android guy so I literally got the 15 Pro Max just for videos haha. I plan on copping the Osmo Pocket 3 OR the DJI Action soon. Something I can travel light with and still get amazing footage.
I just bought the S5 with the 20-60mm for bargain. But i use the S5 mostly with my vintage lens collection (that's what i bought it for). It is an amazing camera. I was blown away from the dynamic range and low light capabilities, compared to my APS-C Fuji. I should give the kit lens a try now more often.
Good choice! And since you're using Vintage lenses you don't have to worry about auto-focus. You should definitely try out the 20-60. It is a pretty neat lens and has a lot of use cases.
I used a low bitrate of 44mbps for export even though I shot at around 200mbps, so the compression plus RU-vid's compression will introduce some artefacts.
No, not from the S5iiX Microphone, I use a cheap MOVO shotgun Microphone but I don't think that's it either. There's a water pump station where I live and it runs 24/7 so the pumps make a humming sound. It might also depend on the headset you're using, persons with Airpods normally say they hear a humming as well even when I'm away from the pump station and everyone else hears clearly. Hope this helps
@@ChevaughnBeckford I've got pretty high quality audio here, so it must be your pump on the lower frequency ranges of the audio (better quality audio = more noticeable across the range especially in the highs and low frequencies where cheap audio gear tends to cut out).
Do you know that the S5 also shoots 5.9K internally? There is a setting, when you toggle to burst mode on the dial and press the record button, you set it to 5.9K and there you have it... 6K video on the S5, but it crashed my laptop. :D I can edit 4K with it but 6K crashed it like crazy.
Neat!! I'm going to try this soon. I hope it doesn't crash my laptop though because shooting in C4K V-Log makes my 5 year old laptop struggles to edit haha 😆
No, this is not 5,9K at all. It is more like 5,2K, it is cropped and of course not Open Gate. Nothing like on the S5II or the S1 and S1H. In addition, you can't use BOOST IS in this mode.
@@iammz81 Not really, the 4K of the S5 is extremely good because the processing of downsampling is almost flawless (this is not the case of the S5II), so the image quality is very good and slightly better than the cropped 5,2K. And like I said some options like IS BOOST are not available. The 5,2K mode is interesting to have more room for cropping though.
1.5 lakh can give you a brand new S5 with the kit lens or the 50mm. I don't think Sony or Canon has a better deal for any full frame camera with similar specs.
The Lumix s5iix cant shoot prores RAW internally. It can shoot Pro-Res codecs but they are compressed, not raw. It can shoot pro-res raw over HDMI with the Ninja 5
I am planning to switch to Sony. I'm ready to sell my S5. I considered the s5ii but ultimately lenses, AF and all my friends use Sony. Even at church. Can share lenses and accessories. But we will see.
@@eelco6587 I've always avoided Sony. But at a certain point it may just be the better option. I didn't go off hype. Pretty much always the underdog brands. Fuji and Lumix.
The S5ii and S5iiX now have the improved phase detect auto-focus system like Sony and Canon, I get what you mean with the lenses though, L-mount is still growing.
You're welcome 😊. Glad you found the video useful. I definitely need an ND 1000, sometimes I have to stack 2 filters together to get the right exposure 😅😅
Don’t listen to the haters. Thanks for making this video and having the balls to put yourself out there making content. I think this camera is massively underrated. The new models have extra sharpening baked in so there are tradeoffs.
