man that such a wonderful bass, the only reason i'm not buying one like this is for the same reason, i barely play 4 string and i know it will just sit in a case under my bed like my 2 other 4 string that i haven't touch in 5 years.
Hey Dave, thanks for your excellent demo! I've been hunting for a dual pickup 5 with vintage flavor to compliment my Fender P 5 and really not loving most of what's out there, but this bass really does it for me. I was able to find a like-new example for next to nothing and would pick it over instruments I've owned priced 10x as much or more.
This bass is really unique. I'm so glad I picked one up when I could afford it. They're also incredibly rare which I didn't know at the time. If anyone can even get their hands on one to try, I really recommend it.
@@joffyjazz that is an Atelier-Z Beta 6/32. I have two of them from back when they still used EMG pickups (they make their own now). 32” scale. I have small hands, and these are the absolute best 6 string basses I have ever played (for me). They play great, they sound great. Not nuts about the new pickups though - look for the P/J Beta 6 with EMGs. Fantastic basses.
Hey Dave, Drake has a bass on sale at reverb with TV Jones Thunder Blades pickups. Do you remember what brand of pickups are on that bass you sold? They sound good. Thanks!
Grant Stinnett’s a fantastic teacher! His many books cover practically everything and are a welcome addition to bass specific music instruction. Which is completely over saturated with finger exercise & scale/arpeggio “diagram dictionaries” printed to make a buck. That said everything I know (and everything you could want to know) about two handed tap & technically advanced slap I learned from Victor Wooten. Of course taking on a tune like “classical thump” or “The Vision” is too steep a task for many players which makes Grant Stinnett’s books a great jumping off point..
I’m not sure what the person below “longdongchong” meant by that comment. But I happen to appreciate appreciate the demo’s, especially since many of the instruments have very few YT videos or none at all. In my opinion the more the better, regardless of you’re reasons for buying or selling (which is entirely zero business of anyone’s). These videos are helpful to folks like me who are interested im a bass like this; but they’re maybe out of production, built in smaller quantities, or just aren’t carried anywhere locally where an in person demo is possible. So in short thanks! 😉 P.S.; I’ve noticed that in many of your posts there’s either an issue with your mic clipping or the tube front end on the Demeter head is being pushed into overdrive/saturation. I honestly can’t tell without being in the room and it seems you generally play at fairly high volumes so either or even both are possible. Just curious Chow!
I had never heard of Billy Talent. You're right- the bass tone is KILLER on III. Do you ever have trouble with the G string slippage due to it being so close to the edge of the frets or do you just have good technique?
Can you please tell me how low the action is? I like ultra-low action because I do a lot of intricate work on the upper fretboard. It looks and sounds amazing.
what a shame they don't do these with 24 frets.... I am thinking about one H or HH. I don't like so many options for HH shiiit 6 positions. I cant never pickup the sound. I like the parallel settings for pickup in this MM
I have a chance to get one of these in the pink (not sure I will like the pink when i see it)...owner says its 9.3lbs - the thin nut may be my biggest hurdle. Thx for the videos - subb'd.
maybe you can help me, i saw geezer playing a black bass on their black sabbath blueray, to see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zxjz6VhUOr8.html Do you know which base he is using here?
Absolutely love the string spacing & is the reason I sold alot of my other basses just to get another Ernie Ball. My Laklands, Fenders etc string space was not for me & I have fairly large hands..😎
Sounds great! String spacing may be manageable since its a 6 string but if l can't routinely play my interpretation of M2's run for cover (which for me requires some double thumbing) it wouldn't be the 1st bass I'd grab. But the tone is nice based on your video and it looks great.
