Lie Down Comedy at Travelodge Hotels We've found some of the funniest names in Australian comedy, including Perth's Joel Creasey and Newcastle boy Rhys Nicholson, to promote the new “Refreshingly Simple” philosophy of Travelodge Hotels in Australia & New Zealand. Watch the videos and have a laugh ;)
Given that the only comedians I am familiar with from Newcastle are Sarah Kendall and Rhys Nicholson, and everyone I actually know from Newcastle are blonde or brunette and aren't comedians; Are children born in Newcastle with orange hair just not allowed outside the theatre?
Sydney people are rude. I lived in Sydney for two short periods. I feel no guilt whatsoever in saying Sydney is a rat infested, filthy, over priced hell hole. I wish I'd listened to the lady at the Sydney Opera House (also from Melbourne) who said I was crazy for moving Sydney and that she'd never live there. Or my co-worker in Melbourne who told me Sydney has a horrible reputation for chewing people up and spitting them out. The first time I was in Sydney I worked in Surry Hills and just walking to the train station I saw 17 rats during the 3 month period. Once I saw a rat at the bottom of a bin eating some chips (Sydney bins are all overflowing and the people just litter) and I said loudly to everyone waiting for the bus "are we all just going to pretend we don't see that". Even getting good fresh food is difficult in Sydney, the fruit and vegetables at the supermarket all look considerably older than Melbourne fruit and vegetables. I think that's why the people are so rude, their pockets are being picked constantly by overpriced rent and the sheer misery of living in Sydney. I hate the fact that every movie that references Australia shows Sydney and not Melbourne.
I love you Joel! And as a Melbournian, I must add, that 'hipsterism' can be daunting, but I find that Melbourne does 'friendly hipster'. There is pretension, of course, it's hipster, but the people that work at and run these establishments, are generally very relaxed and just happy to serve ANYONE. It's all about being laid back and relaxed, so there is no need to feel like you don't belong.
Ahh Perth. Such a magical place where I grew up and just happens to be the best capitol of any Aus state ( and I have lived in them all ) I will be back for a 3 day visit in 8hrs from now.
