This movie is good but it could have been great if it weren't for the implausible assaults on the base. No way you can have 30 VC assaulting untouched to within 20 meters of a position and then slowing down and stopping to be gunned down. They could have given the same suspense and close call feelings with a much more plausible number of VC that don't have to slow down and stop firing to be killed. In reality this base would have been overrun by the first wave and it bothers me way more than it should because this movie is damn near perfect otherwise.

It was wonderful to see Major Merle the napalm driver, dropping a load on the Mall at that small stage near the monument. Ray, Ray Epps, you be small as nickels, your whole stack, on green grass.
That one line basically sums up the mental mindset of people when there own country is being invaded, "We where killing charlie whole sale, And they didn't care Then again I guess we'd do the same if they invaded North Carolina" Never underestimate a people fighting for not just there life's or money but there homes and family.
The thing is they were just one faction, the other faction of SVA folks hated the Northern Viets just as much but weren't led by their leaders as well. In a sense it was a Vietnam Civil War which many seem to forget. The Union North vs the Confederate South except in Vietnam.

Unrealistic movie scene looks like they only barrow m16 from Filipino government army, we know those times 30 rounder m16 magazines is not so popular during the Vietnam war, Phil. Army used those 30 rounder magazines during 1980s and it made them popular than the 20 rounder..
@@LandersWorkshop Yes, its desired to have extra ammo, but 30 rounders in Vietnam War was rare... Most soldiers can only carry 1 30 rounder and the rest in their pouches are 20 rounder.
I like this Vietnam movie too but it's R Lee Ermey RIP at his best in this movie the other stars were great too especially the late great Elder Albert Popwell who was good too!
